You may know this already,  (but your user may not...) while in most (maybe all) spam folders the mail is "killed" and you cannot respond.  You have to mark it as "not spam" then go find it in your inbox.  THEN it should work again?  (not sure SBC is that mature of an Email service.)

The only reason I even posted a message about the member being removed here is so that Mark would have another record of an incident with SBC Global marking members messages as spam.  It is my understanding that this group is to give Mark information about issues.  The pist was not a request for help, but an FYI.
The individual member will be the one to take care of his own business.  He was alteady added back to one of the groups.  I only am back here tonight to inform Mark that SBC will not allow him to open the invite to the other group.  And it was also in Spam!

Thanks outlawsmws.  That was one of our first topics aftervtransition but it will not hurt to remind everyone again.

I am peeved with SBCglobal now because they would not let him open the invitation I sent from Groups.io so he could rejoin!  So he will have to do a join request!

moderated Re: automatic deletion, why?

i am fully aware of that and the member is also aware of that but I worded it as it is worded in the notification topic for clarity.

Now his email is not letting him ope n the invitation I sent him!

So I will have him send a subscribe email.  Hopefully that will get him added back to the group.  SBCGlobal had moved a bunch of his mail to spam.  He had not been checking spam.

moderated Adding the date of the most current photo posted on the Album

Judy F.

I am the Moderator of a buying and selling group and, among other things, I have to check photos frequently to see if each photo has the required information on it.

It would really help if a date appeared on the Album cover showing the date the most current photo was added.  By doing that, I don't have to open each album (7) to see the  date of the latest photo i each one.

This was available on the Yahoo Group and it certainly saved a lot of time.

Thank you,

Hi,
you can use Mozilla Thunderbird to handle MBOX files - but many other email programs will also open that I think.

I've searched for the 1+1 WEBmail but haven't been able to find it.
I added the new name in a letter reply. Sorry if it got missed.
They did a merger and took the smaller Company name because it
was more associated with their new goals or Target customers.
This is (or nearly?) the biggest Hosting Company in the UK.
They host in the USA too.
https://email.ionos.com/ BUT
Getting there will not help. Killing the connection on what I see here as
the log-on box/page will not cause the orange offline box. THAT box only
comes sometimes when on their Domains, or THEIR emulated/hosted ones like mine.

What will help clarify the issue is

three bullet points received as blank
Can't see or answer, there was no question.

* we know you are using a chromebook
Sometimes, but it is new, about a month old. I use a desktop and have had
this problem since I got here a couple years ago or so...

* how are you accessing groups.io
When I used my own Domain WEBmail everything works fine. That was the
orange box picture I sent. It is the expected and hoped for action/reaction.

WHEN I post from the Group WEBsite poster page, THAT is when the reply message
is lost if I'm disconnected after starting a message and/or get disconnected
before I hit send. If connection is lost early enough, no Groups.io WEBsite
DRAFT is saved. This is proper DRAFT action since there is no connection.

* via email and if email, what email client software and who is your email provider (domain name e.g. pacificbell.net, aol.com, etc_
No local client email program is EVER used.
Provider is my hosting service. See login address above.
I'm my own Domain Admin and OWN the Domain.
Hosting is rented otherwise.

Never Cable, Never Cat5, Always WiFi.@ 100Mbps nominal. 75Mbps just now tested.

* who is your internet service provider (ISP)
Verizon

* what kind of broadband connection do you have?
FIOS, Quantum (Verizon's word) Router.

* cable or dsl or ?
NO

That, at least might get us into the same general area as you so we could better understand the operation.
I did access that internet program but their website don't tell much about specific functionality, controls, etc.
InternetOff? It breaks into the network stack and puts in a selectable timer with a Max of 1hr on or always on.
It also has an instant off feature. Or always off.
Other than doing exactly what I tell it to do (disconnect me after a certain time), this is not related to
the problem.

I was asking if the same WEBpage functionality seen at IONOS message poster page could be added here,
at the Groups.io message poster page.

I started asking years ago because what was 1+1 then was not doing replies well concerning Groups and
especially Groups.io
I was told that I needed to contact them and have it fixed there...
I did, and they fixed it.
So I was able to use my own Web host for posting but I get into trouble when using the hosting at Groups.io

Summary: The posting at IONOS seems to notify a connection failure (what ever the cause) in real time
and the group.io posting page is brain dead about that very nice feature...

Hope this helps...

Rick

Bugs (or suspected bugs) should be reported to support@groups.io  This group is intended for feature enhancements or suggestions (as shown in the description on the home page.)

For assistance with existing features, you should post in Group_Help or GroupManagersForum aka GMF (also noted in the group description.)

That's for photos that are in messages, it shouldn't have anything to do with uploaded photos.

Download did do an actual download at one time, but it didn't work in some browsers, so Mark ended up back at the original code, which is what happens now - opens in a new screen.

Christos,

I have been playing with this for a while, and I tried different sizes with no improvement.  Our group is set to a max of  2048x2048.  My desktop is 1680x1050. My pictures have been resized to 1980x whatever so as not to eat up space.  When I click on download the image is crystal clear.    It is not my pictures.

I did find this old link where Mark says the pictures are displayed as 720x720 - https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/2366?p=,,,20,0,0,0::relevance,,720,20,2,0,49528  and Duane made the following comment last year - https://groups.io/g/GroupManagersForum/message/8603?p=,,,20,0,0,0::relevance,,720,20,2,0,19578151

And yes it is an upsizing issue, but I think the pictures should be displayed full size when you click on it, or do a slideshow.

This is out a user's control.  It has to be a change to the Photos code.

I have been going to the Emailed Photos album and deleting the oldest ones.  Each time I delete a photo, there is a gray box left behind.  If I click on it, it moves the photo after it into that slot - I understand that action.  But when I get to the last photo and delete it, left behind is a black box.  If I delete that, it gets hung up until I do the back arrow.  Then it takes me back to the black box.  It doesn't take me to the last photo in the album.

Is this normal?  What is it that way?

Sincerely,

Rli

Very clever. I’ll work on it. This is exactly what I need. Just an archive, no need for it to all be in groups.io.

Charlie,

>>>

Fully agree that the photo presentation is not up to par.  It is not as good as Yahoo was.  TVs are moving to 4K and 8K.  Desktops and phones have been providing better and better resolution.  Blurry pictures are not what people want. I heard from someone it was to save bandwidth.  I admit everyone does not have unlimited bandwidth, but unlimited is the trend.  Perhaps a quality option somewhere.  As photo sharing after an event is one our prime uses of Groups.io, I would really like better quality photos.

<<<

All other things being equal (i.e. the image wasn't blurry/messed-up to begin with), the issue is not an image resolution/quality or a bandwidth problem, it's an (original) image resizing issue, and specifically, an image up-sizing issue.

To expand on what Duane said, the problem is that the code behind photos, while it will correctly "shrink/size-down" an image which is larger than the screen photo display area (that black area that contains the image with the < >, and which will vary based on current screen resolution/size used), it will also do the corollary when the image is smaller than the screen photo display area and will "expand/resize-up" that photo to fit that display area instead of displaying it actual/100% size, and this causes small(er) images to become blurry to varying degrees.  You can see what I mean, find a photo which displays blurry when it shouldn't, click on Download to bring it up on screen at its actual size, and you'll notice that it's smaller than the display area, anywhere from a lot smaller to some percentage smaller of the display area.  Then find another image which is rather large to begin with, or upload a test photo that's close or bigger than your monitor's resolution, and you'll notice how that displays fine.

I also do agree, the photo display functionality can use some fixing and also some improvements; for example, the Download button, I don't see why the image is not downloaded automatically (or opened in your graphics app, depending on your settings) when one clicks on the Download button, but instead goes to a different screen where the image is displayed at actual size, and one can then right-click to save the image, that's extra unnecessary work IMO; yes, one can right-click on the Download button and select "Save Link As" and it will save it that way right away, but the average user won't think to do that, initially at least.

The good thing (thank heavens!!) is that, provided the group settings are set accordingly, GIO will not muck around with the actual image's resolution & DPI when it stores the image, and will download the actual original size/rez, unlike FB which will physically alter the image to downsize it AND resample its rez to 300dpi max, before it stores it on its servers.

Cheers,

Christos
