Re: Yahoo has extended deadline for downloading from your group
I think we have to treat these announcements with care. Yahoo refers to “your content” but that does not necessarily mean files and photos, for example. It may only refer to messages posted by an individual, and no other messages. The wording is obscure.
My understanding of the change is that although “content” will generally be removed from December 14, “content” will remain until it has been extracted in response to individual requests. So by asking for our content, would that result in the extension of the content deletion date for a specific group? This is not a question I think we can answer here, but equally I doubt if Yahoo would answer it. Andrew

I fail to understand why you posted this. It is neither relevant nor I would have thought helpful on this date! The title is misleading - it is old news, not current. The page linked is common knowledge cited many times in current posts AND is public, as you say. FWIW, dave

Yes to print button and for images in the database to be printed as well.
The EXPORT DATABASE feature does not now include images.....this makes the database useless to me. Can't use database whose images only exist in the ether. Chuck

I have unmoderated the beta group again. Please keep the discussion focused on new features and not support requests.
With the great Yahoo Groups migration winding down, I can turn back to projects in process before that happened. My focus continues to be on the app. It is almost ready for testing and I will soon create a new subgroup for that. The first version will
not have moderator features; it's just focused on normal users. I will also be getting back to work on notifications soon.
I am working this week (although at reduced capacity because of a cold), and then will be on holiday until January 6th. As usual, I'll be monitoring the site. But answers to support requests will be delayed. Due to support volume, I can only answer messages
from mods/owners of premium groups at this time. I wish it wasn't so, but that's reality.
2019 was quite a year for Groups.io. 2020 is looking to be even better. Thanks for your support!

Re: Allow auto-moderated/locked topics due to time-out hashtag to be unmoderated/unlocked by hand
Yes, I think the group setting auto-lock (but I've no strong opinion about auto-moderate) would be more useful if it applied after a topic became inactive, rather than counting its age since first message. Setting moderation for a topic which seems set to grumble on for ever is a decision I would usually give to the moderators' human judgement, rather than an automated timer -- but that, of course, depends on the nature of the group. The groups I help look after may not be typical; we use auto-lock as a way of preventing the occasional reply where the original discussion is long forgotten. - Mark

I will end with a request for 2020, which is to support transfer of pre-Easy Transfer from Yahoo messages into a groups.io account. I have messages saved from Yahoo's own export/download process as well as PG Online.
Happy End of Year everyone, Jon

Re: Allow auto-moderated/locked topics due to time-out hashtag to be unmoderated/unlocked by hand
And to be clear, we’re now talking about the group settings, not hashtag durations (which work a different way and should definitely not be changed to consider imactivity - they either delete or lock the topic based on age and have to stay thst way).

Re: Allow auto-moderated/locked topics due to time-out hashtag to be unmoderated/unlocked by hand
p.s. I do understand your idea. You're thinking the topics should be locked/moderated after they become inactive. But the purpose of the feature is to lock/moderate them when they simply reach a certain age, so that they don't go on (or go on without some sort of control) forever. Perhaps auto-lock could be changed to work that way, which does make some sort of sense. But I think auto-moderate should work based on age, not activity.

The auto-lock/auto-moderate feature does not, and in my opinion *should not*, count days from last activity. That is not its intended function.

Re: Allow auto-moderated/locked topics due to time-out hashtag to be unmoderated/unlocked by hand
It would work well, I suggest, if the auto-lock or auto-moderate timer counted days since last activity on a topic, and treated unlocking by a moderator as an activity. I think the timer at present counts from the oldest message on a thread, rather than the newest, so an adjustment might be needed by groups using this feature. - Mark

Re: Change: Members can only donate once to a donation request
txercoupemuseum.org
I agree. I recently asked for a $2.00 donation and my goal was reached by about 18 much more generous donors. That might not always be the case, and the percentage of “freeloaders” can be large, depending on how well motivated a group’s members are.

You might want to make the limit 1 donation per day (or week). As it may be possible for the fund drive to last a long period of time. And the person intends to donate again. Rush Kester

There have been a few instances of members accidentally donating multiple times to the same donation request. I've changed it so that a person can only donate once to a given donation request.
Thanks,

Re: Allow auto-moderated/locked topics due to time-out hashtag to be unmoderated/unlocked by hand
CORRECTION: Actually I have to make a correction to my request. I had been saving up the request until beta was open to feature requests again, but I failed to look at my notes about it. The real issue is when the group itself (not a hashtag) locks or moderates messages after x days. There is no way to unlock or unmoderate timed-out topics in that case, other than to remove or change the group's entire setting in that regard. The hashtag issue is secondary.
