I think that's available.  All you have to do is upgraded to Enterprise - "Fully customizable home page".  I'd think it would apply to other pages of your group as well.

I wouldn't want much, if any, color change allowed to each group.  It would be very confusing to tell someone to click on the blue button if their group uses green buttons, etc.

We are sending out over twice as much email as we were a month and a half ago, and we need to upgrade our outbound email server. During this time, all aspects of the site will be working except that we will not be sending out any email. All outbound email will be queued up and sent when the machine upgrade is complete.

We would like, when possible, to be able to move non recovery related topics from the main page to subgroups.

“Privacy” is a back burner issue for now. I work with some “sensitive” groups and I remind everyone that nothing posted anywhere on the internet should be considered “private”. If any member of your group receives posts via individual messages or digests, even if you delete that post it lives in posterity. There are things an individual can do to mask their identity (different email, not using identifiers in posts) but you can not assure members of total anonymity. It might be more appropriate to move this query to the GMF https://groups.io/g/GroupManagersForum/topics

If the information is public (can be read by anyone without logging in), Google will eventually find it.  Doing a Google search for groups.io returned ~166,000,000 hits, though not all from the site.

The archives should be on YG until Dec 14, but Mark has set a cutoff of Dec 5 @ 9am Pacific time for requesting transfers.  He may continue to try existing transfers after the cutoff if they haven't been completed.

Thanks so much for continuing to let several of us who were frustrated by the Yahoo glitches continue with the process!

On top of everything else my laptop pc was giving up the ghost so yesterday I had to make the 6 hour round trip drive to Albuquerque to spend more hours trying out dozens of laptops before I found one that will work for my needs; then today getting it at least partially up and running.  At this point I am at step 4 in the transfer process!

By the way, on another subject I saw somewhere that you were a pilot or otherwise interested in aviation at some point.  You might be interested to know that I am very involved with many nonprofit pilot and aviation groups, such as volunteer pilot patient transport groups like Angel Flight, LifeLine Pilots, Pilots for Patients, and many more; and other groups providing introductory flights for kids, supporting conservation and environmental support efforts, transporting veterans around to their care facilities, etc. etc.  There are tens of thousands of volunteer pilots in more than 70 such groups doing wonderful work

The umbrella nonprofit support group for them is called the Air Care Alliance www.aircarealliance.org and we are about to roll out our redesigned website and online automated referral system.  I have been considering setting up a discussion group that interfaces well with the site.  After we get through this current situation I will be investigating if groups.io might be just the vehicle for that part of our operations!

Did they change the cutoff or was the reporting in that article
incorrect? I've read that in multiple places but that doesn't mean
those sources are correct, but they are usually so.

In either case it won't affect me as I have my groups archived. I just
want to be sure so I can run my archiver at the last minute to get
whatever the last "recorded" posts are.

I think Mark is going to take this transfer stuff right up to the last
possible minute. He will probably continue after Dec 14 as long as he
has group content downloaded already (before it disappears from Yahoo)
so he has something to transfer. Then he will run out of content and
will have to just say he did his best and the rest just didn't make it
in time.

You are in the right group to make the suggestion though. Just come
back after the Dec 14 Yahoo cutoff date and suggest it then with an
explanation of how it will be useful in the future. No sense in making
a case for it now as it will have to be ignored during this crisis.
Mark has already stated that he will not be spending time implementing
suggestions until after the transfers are all completed.

Hi BG,

I don't see a way to have archives/old messages hidden from members.  Is that possible?  I moderate a support group for divorcing moms and encourage people to post fairly deeply, and ask for support on sensitive topics.  It's nice for them to feel like their kids, or their stalk-y ex can't somehow search for those messages

My group completed the transfer set up protocol and everything transferred this afternoon.  We are so grateful that the extension of the deadline and Mark's efforts allowed our group to successfully move from the yahoo platform to groups.io. Our group is small, but is so important to its members as a way of keeping memories and connections alive from a time and place long ago and far away.  Thank you so much.
