Re: 2 questions about the Yahoo Group transfer
What I did was send out a Special Notice to my group telling them that the archives have been exported and no new messages will be archived at Yahoo. I warned them to save their "on-topic" posts until the move is complete... I think that should allay their concerns.

Mark, I'm the one that had asked about the transfer.io issue. I got the info this morning that the invite had been accepted and did the selecting of all of the items I needed transferred, but I didn't see a button saying 'go ahead'. I thought I had remembered seeing that before or reading about it. Again, I'm not rushing you, but want to make sure I didn't goof up again. Maybe that's been removed?
Thank you, Judy Faulkner SW Florida - USA SewWhatEmbroiderySoftware.io

A few days before the recent pricing change, I created a main group and a few subgroups for my non-profit organization. My understanding was that we could upgrade using the Yearly Premium option and migrate both the main group and the subgroups from Yahoo! Groups for the one yearly fee. I upgraded the main group (announcements@companeros.groups.io) from Premium Monthly to Yearly Premium for $110 the day before the pricing change was announced and initiated the transfer. I am paid up for this month for the Premium Monthly plan, so the payment for Premium Yearly is due to be applied to our credit card next month. Everything seems to be proceeding as expected for the main group transfer. Its current status is "awaiting transfer." We have accepted the invite to your group. Before we can transfer your group, you must upgrade it to the Premium Yearly option. Once you've done that, return here and you will be able to give the go ahead to transfer.
When I click on the link for the Premium Yearly option, the Current Plan for the subgroup is listed as Premium Monthly, even though the main group is listed as Premium Yearly. I checked all the other subgroups and they all say the same thing: Current Plan is Premium Monthly. Because of that, I am not able to move forward to give the go ahead for the subgroup transfer. My understanding was that upgrading the main group to Premium Yearly would “trickle down” to all the subgroups. It would be very difficult for my non-profit group to pay $220 to upgrade each of the other subgroups to Premium Yearly. Please advise me if there is a way to correct the status of the subgroup plans to reflect the Premium Yearly status of the main group. Robert R.

Sub-folders for PHOTO section
RCardona
Would it be possible to allow the creation of sub-folders in photo folders, like currently exists for file folders? I see there have been at least two other requests to provide this feature back in 2018, so am reviving the request.
The dilemma I faced was I could simply add them to the files section, where folder and sub-folder capacity already exists, but then they are unable to be viewed as photos. To dump them all in the photos section without better organizational sub-folders would create a real mess. A possible alternative would be to provide a toggle on file folders that would allow the folder to be viewed as a photo folder in the files section. R. Cardona

Re: Blank names when users join or get imported translates into postings getting rejected from mail
I would like adding a Display Name when registering be a requirement. In my family genealogy groups I insist on knowing names and members being on first name basis within the group. I ask them to close their messages with their name. First name only works for me.

Change in group transfer queue sorting algorithm
Hi All, After some consideration, I've changed how the groups in the transfer queue are being sorted, in an effort to make things more fair. Previously, transfer requests were sorted by when they were initially created. Now, transfer requests are sorted by when the go ahead is given to transfer the group. Figuring things out as I go..... Thanks, Mark

Glad Mark clarified. It hurts when you are trying very hard to get the job done under great pressure. This would shut up the whiners who have no idea what it takes to run sustainable business with the onslaught of work. Anyone who is unhappy can look for better options elsewhere.

Mark: Clarification for basic Groups
kr402
Mark, I and others that might move their Ygroup to Groups.io need a clarification that in 2020 their might be a charge for Basic Groups. If so would that include existing groups, or just new groups? Would all groups at Groups.io have a fee, meaning there would no longer be any free groups? Please, all understand I am not debating whether there should be fees or not I am simply asking Mark for clarification from recent discussions on this. Thanks, Mark for all you have and are doing. You are the best and Groups.io are still the best groups. Kim

Photos in albums
Margo Seegrist
I noticed this before in a group I've belonged to here in groups.io but now I'm finally getting around to asking a question about it. When I click on a photo in an album to copy it down to my computer, there are choices of download, edit, move and report. There isn't a choice to Cancel the action of clicking on the photo. Any chance there will be one so if we click on the photo, decide we don't want to edit it and want to back out of it we don't have to hit the back arrow on our computers or click on the Photos album to have to scroll back through all the albums to find the one we were just in (alphabetized or not).
Another thing. Same subject. If I click on the download, I know I right click and copy or save image as or whatever. But after I do that, the photo just sits there with no way out of it. There's no left hand columns with Photos to click on so the only option is the back arrow on the computer. Any chance of putting a little "X" in the upper right corner to get us out of that photo? Not to delete it - just to get back to the previous screen or the main album? If there is another way and I just don't see it, please let me know. I figured the way I was doing it was not logical so there must be a logical way that I'm missing. Sincerely, Rli@...

The most important thing is to get the data out of Yahoo and safely stored. That's the export part of the system. Once the data is out, it doesn't matter if Yahoo Groups is up/gone/malfunctioning/whatever. Your group has already been exported, it's just now in the queue to be loaded into Groups.io. What you saw this morning was a bunch of priority transfers bumping to the head of the line. I really am going as fast as I can with this.
What seems to be the case with the incoming Yahoo Groups is that they are averaging large numbers of messages, as I suppose you'd expect from long running groups. The messages take the most time to import and can't be done in parallel, because the threading algorithm expects to see messages in order, like you'd normally get in a mailing list. I could perhaps fix that, but I don't have the time right now.

Subject: Re: [beta] 2 questions about the Yahoo Group transfer I hope the queue will be shrink instead of grow next days. It's my understanding that those that are paying the extra fee of $200 get put in front of those that don't find it that urgent. Also note that the number is an estimate, not carved in stone. I'm sure the seemingly constant glitches at Yahoo aren't helping any. (And believe it or not, Mark does need to get some sleep now and then...)Duane
