Just FYI, if you check the box for "allow photos in files" you can have nested photo albums in the files section. Unfortunately this does not display the photos as thumbnails/slideshows or provide any of the other features of a photo album...just basic storage. Regards, Bruce

Re: Yahoo Group transfer deadline
Mark,
The word "already" may be wrong there. The current outage in photos (for my groups anyway) started a few weeks ago and I don't think is connected to the planned content deletion. Except maybe that they're tired of fixing it. There have been numerous prior outages in the photos section of Y!groups over the last few years, and usually they get around to fixing the problem, but not necessarily promptly. Nor necessarily comprehensively (some groups report their photos are back, while others still see them as blank squares). What happens this time is anyone's guess I suppose, but I'd try not to imply that they won't come back. Maybe "... most Photos sections are currently having an outage and it isn't known if they'll be restored prior to the deadline." Shal (yeah, ever the optimist).

Would love to have the ability to put albums within albums
Margo Seegrist
I'm a newbie owner of a groups.io site and don't know if this has already been discussed. I am interested in the ability to have albums inside albums to make it cleaner for the site. We are just moving over from yahoogroups and have presently 434 albums at that site. You have to scroll forever to find the correct album whether you set it to date or set it to alphabetical. I would like to have a clean photos tab that shows 2018 albums and under that specific subjects like Layouts, Mingles, Challenges, etc. and then under that the actual months of albums. That way we won't have to scroll or go page by page through so many albums to find what we want since the title may not be what is on the photo.
Naturally I won't be copying all 434 albums over to groups.io but from this point forward we'll be creating future albums (13 each month) which will clog things up quickly unless we have the capability of having albums within albums. (I have that on my computer now) - albums within albums. Is there any way you can do this feature?

I've had a team in Spain working on this for several months now, and things are progressing at a pretty good clip now. I'm doing my best to complete the API as they need it and to not slow things down, although the sudden influx of Y! Groups refugees is filling my plate right now. I'm hoping that the app, in some form, will be released before the end of the year. Most likely it will not initially include group management features; those will be added later. It will be released on both iOS and Android at the same time. Thanks, Mark

Yahoo Group transfer deadline
Hi All, From an excellent suggestion from Duane, I've added the following to the top of the Yahoo Transfer page: Due to the pending discontinuation of many parts of Yahoo Groups, we ask that all transfer requests be given the go ahead no later than December 1, 2019. We will not be able to guarantee any transfers submitted after that. Also note that it appears that most Photos sections are already off-line and not transferrable. Please let me know if there are other places this should be added to, or if you have any suggestions for improvements. Thanks, Mark

Math syntax and rendering
Enrique Santos
It would be great if we could write math expressions in ASCIIMath or embedded TeX when using MarkDown or HTML, and they would be properly rendered. I think that it would not be difficult to integrate the server-side MathJaxx in Groups.io: https://www.mathjax.org/#gettingstarted. Other possible solutions for MarkDown are described on this survey:

YahooGroup Status Update
JediPirx
I did not know which group to post this update to, so forgive
me if I have erred. But it is relevant to the Groups.io team to prepare for an influx of new groups. A snippet below, full details by following the link. Stan ---------------------------------------------------------------------- https://help.yahoo.com/kb/groups/SLN31010.html?impressions=true "Yahoo has made the decision to no longer allow users to upload content to the Yahoo Groups site. Beginning October 21, you won't be able to upload any more content to the site, and as of December 14 all previously posted content on the site will be permanently removed. You'll have until that date to save anything you've uploaded." ----------------------------------------------------------------------

main@beta.groups.io Calendar <main@...>
Reminder: Linode downtime to patch a crash #downtime When: Thursday, 17 October 2019, 2:00am to 4:00am, (GMT-07:00) America/Los Angeles Description: Our hosting provider, Linode, has to patch all the physical machines our service runs on. This downtime corresponds to the patching of our main database instance. The site will be down potentially for up to two hours, although I believe it will be much less than that. This downtime starts at 9:00AM UTC. Mail will be queued during the downtime and will be sent when we are back on-line. I will be sleepy the next day.

Re: ability for members to easily see all their messages in a group
That's cumbersome. There's a reason we have a way to get to all of a member's messages without having to find an existing message of theirs first.
Chris did post about the actual feature. It's only the wording that could use some tweaking. -- J Messages are the sole opinion of the author, especially the fishy ones.
