Re: option to set maximum attendees for calendar events

I agree that this would be a very useful and important addition. Even with the first group event we held, we experienced people who cancelled literally in the 11th hour, a couple of whom strongly requested a change of time and venue to accommodate them. I want these people waitlisted the next time they RSVP as coming to an event, and would really like to be able to do that. Without it, we're stuck letting them hold places in the next events (which are limited to small numbers of attendees) while they make up their minds. -- J Messages are the sole opinion of the author, especially the fishy ones.

Does the word "yet" mean this might be coming down the pike? That would be awesome if it is! :)

Re: option to set maximum attendees for calendar events
I'll go the opposite direction: would it be possible to specify a minimum number of attendees by a certain date or the event is automatically cancelled? Probably pie-in-the-sky.

Re: option to set maximum attendees for calendar events
Unless you're talking about something else, you can specify the max number of attendees for an event and you can specify whether people can bring guests. If too many want to go, the overflow are put on a waitlist, which is automatically managed. What isn't available yet is the ability for the organizer to take people off the list manually. Mark

Re: option to set maximum attendees for calendar events
ps You could possibly add a waitlist capability to that if and when implemented.

Re: option to send calendar event reminder or resend
It would also be very useful to be able to send a message directly, and only, to the members who have RSVP'd to the event. There is currently no easy way to do this (only their names are included in the view of who replied), and posting an update to the event would go to the entire group.
But the bare minimum would be a simple reminder feature. -- J Messages are the sole opinion of the author, especially the fishy ones.

Brian Warner <bwarner@...>
+1 to this. It would be super helpful to manually trigger invites, whether to someone who lost the invite or who joins the group after the event was scheduled. It would also be very helpful if there was an option for new subscribers to automatically receive invitations for existing calendar events, and for unsubscribers to receive cancellations. You can fake this today by scheduling reminder emails prior to the event, but it would be helpful to have it happen automatically (particularly for recurring events). Best, Brian

...or in one case, a person who wants to RSVP, uses only email, and can't find her original calendar invite email. There's no way of resending the email to her so she can RSVP that way.

option to send calendar event reminder or resend
I can't seem to find an ability to resent the invite to a calendar event, or (equivalently) to send a "reminder" notice. This would be very helpful to have, since some people use only email and may have misplaced their invitation email, or may have forgotten to RSVP after the first notice, etc.
