I have a charter.net person too and I can not seem to get her to understand that she has to complain to Charter. I am gathering that Spectrum and Charter are related some how.

Wish I could get her to complain. She is now using a Gmail email, but I think it is still coming through Charter, not sure.

For a long time (at least a year or two), I've warned new members who apply with earthlink accounts to use another email address if they possibly can. I have no earthlink members left, but I do have a couple of mindspring members, having forgotten that it's the same thing.

My bouncing mindspring members have now unbounced, but I have a charter.net member who is continuing to bounce. I don't think that was part of the earthlink list, so it's probably a different issue.

I meant disabling it is best. I assume that means you grayed it out. As long as it’s disabled, no matter how. 😊

I've changed it so that it's disabled now if there's only one revision. This matches the behavior when viewing wiki revisions.

Why have the button at all? I used to not display buttons if that functionality wasn't available (like if you didn't have permission to upload a file to the files area, I wouldn't even show the Upload button). But it seems that was confusing for people (where's the Upload button? would be a question I got a lot of). I think that showing the buttons, but disabled, is a better indicator that you can't do something. Happy to be proven wrong, of course.

Very helpful! (I assume, though, that because of the blocking, "send message" wouldn't work and it needs to be sent outside the system through regular email.)

One of my  members wrote out these instructions for unblocking  your Earthlink account that may be useful to other moderators:

If Earthlink is blocking your email from Groups.io follow these steps to clear the block:

STEP 1 - unbounce your account with groups.io

A few days ago, you were sent an email from groups.io with instructions to unbounce your account. There is a link at the bottom of that email. Just click it and your account with groups.io will be restored.

STEP 2 - unblock your account with Earthlink

You will probably also have to send an email to Earthlink to get them to unblock your account so it will receive messages from groups.io again. Use the following information exactly as written below. I started to get TVC emails shortly after sending the “unblock” message to Earthlink, so you probably will, too.

Subject:  Blocked 66.175.222.12

My personal problem with EarthLink is one of their users forwarded an EarthLink email address to my personal Gmail address. I contacted EarthLink support about this and they said that without the password of their user, they could do nothing. I set up a Gmail filter which automatically delets the emails.

The fact that a user can automatically forward emails to accounts they do not control tells volumes about EarthLink. The additional fact that their support follows the rule of "see no evil, hear no evil, do nothing," tells even more.

My EarthLink issue has nothing to do with your issue, but I hope that you will have better luck with this issue than I did with mine.

My suggestion is to document all of the EarthLink issues and pass them on to groups.io members with EarthLink email accounts .

Hi All,

I've been trying to get Earthinlink to unblock us. They responded on Friday that they had unblocked us, but I’ve continued to receive reports over the weekend of blocking. I did hear from someone this evening that mail is flowing again.

I unfortunately have no idea why they were(are?) blocking us.

Thanks,
Mark

Oh, I see what you're saying (was rushing before). You mean that in the case where you want the original gone, it would be easier to specify that at the start of the edit. I agree but might be a bit convoluted to implement.

It's useful because sometimes you don't want the original gone. In fact, it was a big fight to get this functionality implemented (deletion of edits). Sometimes inappropriate info is posted and you want to permanently redact it. Other times you just want to fix a typo. Big difference.

Anyway, my main point is the compare button. I'm done. :-)

because the button doesn’t do anything. Like I said, not a huge deal but you can actually click on the butto now when there only one existing revision (= version) and for a moment I wondered whether it would let you compare with deleted versions, which would be bad. I was reassured to find out that it was just a no-op. So better to remove confusion and do away with it.

I'm not sure how you managed to delete a revision, but "Compare Revisions" for me is useful when there is one revision. I like seeing what was changed from the original.

Thank you for your reply.

However, its not Editing the Album per se, its editing the ownership of the individual images within an album where a Search Box would be beneficial.

When a moderator selects an Album, and then selects +Edit Album the name of the owner appears at the top of the page, and is easily editable. (In fact the album's owner is visible on the thumbnail of the album) A similar edit of an individual photo's owner is also available once it is "opened" and Edit again selected.

Reassigning ownership can be tedious; as long as you know the "new" owner's Display Name then pressing the initial letter of that D/N will scroll through the membership list displaying those D/Ns starting with that letter is what appears to be a random order. You have to be watchful!!

Imports from Yahoo maintain the original ownerships unless the originator has left the group, in which case the album/photo is reassigned to the moderator who initiated the transfer from Yahoo.

Good morning,

May I make the following suggestions / requests:

  1. In the Directory section, it would be really good to have a search box to locate a Member, &
  2. A similar search box to be able to find the owner when editing the albums' ownership.  This would be very useful after importing photos from Yahoo (or, perhaps, elsewhere) and to ascribing an image to the correct member - as opposed to the person updating the files.

Kind regards

Peter
