Judy,

Duane, I would think they have to be somewhere so anyone wanting to do
one of those things knows what address so to speak is.
Perhaps only in a help page. If you're already at the group's pages it is simpler to click on "Subscription" and change the setting directly.

Or add them under the "Group Email Addresses" heading on the group's home page, to go with the Post, Subscribe, Unsubscribe, Group Owner, and Help addresses that are listed there now.

You don't need to waste time pruning the list for that, just click on the word "Status" to sort the "Sent" invites to the top (or click twice if the first time is the wrong-way up).

Judy,

I don't believe the options will actually show up anyplace unless you add them. You could include them in the Welcome message to group members using the real groupname. It's just a shortcut for folks that don't go to the group online to make the changes as you do.

Right now, all member notices, like this one, are sent from ignore@groups.io, which is a blackhole. Should I change that to group+owner@groups.io? We're talking things like the welcome, pending sub, rejected sub, goodbye and banned messages.

Thanks,

All seem to intimate that the invited is no longer
welcome.

Does anyone want to know who has been added and who
was truly "rescinded"?

If so, is there a way to automate accepted invitations?

Or 2 "delete" options - accepted/rejected?

Mark, as you can see I am just now catching up on messages.  I don’t remember seeing any replies here, but here are my thoughts.

I don’t want to send an email to turn digest or any mail delivery off or on.  I want to be able to access the group, click on mail delivery I prefer and  yes or no or whatever the options are and save and that’s it.  Now if we have both options, then that should make all of us happy

With the options you show below, where would they be and would they be showing the actual group name or would it have to be entered?  I ask this because on the buying selling group the sellers are supposed to send their ads to group name@... and because they have auto complete turned on, they send them to groupname-owner@... .  This wastes time for the moderator to go back to them and tell them to repost.

Thanks,.

Hi all,
With other group providers, it is possible to turn digest mode on or off simply by sending a command by email to the list server. Same is true for no mail. Can this be implemented in groups.io? Someone tried to do this on our The Tech Zone list, prompting me to send this suggestion.
Thank you, I look forward to any comments on this.

We now support the following email commands:

groupname+help

groupname+single

groupname+digest

groupname+special

groupname+nomail

Thanks,

How about "Remove Pending Invitation"?  Yes, I know that's long, but the "Pending" part gets rid of the doubt that it affects a member who has already joined.

Mark,

I suggested green or orange characters reminiscent of the the CRT
terminals of yesteryear.
I *love* this idea. It is done.
I used ADDS Consul terminals at my first job. They came with eye-ease orange phosphor, and orange keycaps to match. Later VT-100 clones (C.Itoh CIT-101). Easter egg: the designation "CIT-101" also referred to California Institute of Technology - my former college roommate got the contract to program those terminals.

So I probably shouldn't show you these:

Hmmmm. The only thing that gets cached are search results, within the search engine. We do use the search engine to grab thread information for the thread view, so I suppose that may explain it, except that I explicitly tell the search engine to refresh its cache after the merge is completed.

Please let me know if you see it happen again.

Mark,

Deleting the invite at the point it's accepted is easy to do. The
reason I didn't do that before is that I wanted to leave a 'paper
trail'.
I agree with that reason.

In particular it would be confusing (to me as a moderator) if a particularly prompt member accepted the invitation and it disappeared before I'd noticed it appear in the list. Even ignoring that case, I prefer having this nice list of invitations at hand rather than have to dredge them out of the Activity log.

Why do people want to remove accepted Invitations from this list? The list can be sorted by Status or invitation date, isn't that sufficiently tidy?

But maybe I go ahead and delete it then. Then, the only invites that
could be deleted would be outstanding ones, so maybe that action is
called Cancel Invite?
Or, if you don't, the action could be "Cancel/Remove Invitation" to cover both cases.

To me, an invitation should be deleted as soon as it's accepted. Would that be easier than waiting a specified period of time? Would that work for everyone?

Hi

I like Cancel Invitation or Remove Invitation. It really is only housekeeping - getting the name off a specific page, so that we can see which ones have not joined yet.

According to Google, rescind means revoke, cancel, or repeal (a law, order, or agreement).

I agree that Delete from list is problematic since list is not defined there.

I agree with pnrfan; I think Remove Invitation, Cancel Invitation, or Rescind Invitation would be least likely to imply unsubscribing the member.

"Delete From List" seems problematic to me because so many people use "the list" to refer primarily to the list of members, or as a synonym for "the group". So even though one is looking right at the list in question, I think the association with Members list is too strong.
