Reported message makes entire thread disappear
We had a member reported a message within a thread as objectionable and the entire thread disappeared, although if you access the original messages in the thread from the link in the email to the moderators or the Activity Log, the thread is still there. If you have had the same issue, please respond to this message (I want to know that I'm not totally crazy). Peace, Tom Vail

New for premium groups: calendar sync
Hi All, An enterprise group requested that we add the ability to automatically add events to the calendar when someone sends a calendar invite to a group. I've just pushed that to the live site, available to all premium groups. For example, if in Google Calendar, you create an event and then add your Groups.io group as a guest, that will generate an email that's sent to the group with a calendar invite. Now, we'll parse that invite and create the event in the Groups.io calendar (assuming the sender has permission to add calendar events). The email is still sent on to the group members. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks, Mark

Re: Yahoo group transfers
Hans,
I find that on the "Easy Groups Transfer" page ..., proceeding toIt is that way because the "Set Up A New Transfer" button and "Existing Transfers" drop-list at the bottom require a login. Wouldn't it be better to allow non-logged-in users to read the YahooSounds like a good idea. It would probably be possible to show the instructions, absent those two elements, when a non-logged-in user views the page. That leaves a question of whether they should be simply absent, or whether the page should say something to the effect of "Log in to see your existing transfers or set up a new one." I'm currently in a group hosted on Yahoo and I'm suggesting to themConsider directing them also to GMF's collection of notes: https://groups.io/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Transfer-from-Yahoo-Groups Though that may seem daunting due to all the detail and advice, the transfer process is actually straightforward. Re: Yahoo group transfers
I find that on the "Easy Groups Transfer" page (https://groups.io/static/transfer), proceeding to "Yahoo Group Instructions" requires me to login to Groups.io before viewing the page, while proceeding to "Google Group Instructions" does not. Wouldn't it be better to allow non-logged-in users to read the Yahoo Group Instructions also? I'm currently in a group hosted on Yahoo and I'm suggesting to them that they migrate here, and it might be helpful to the folks over there if they can access the instructions right away.

Re: Integration message moderation change
Mark,
Previously, these messages ignored the group moderated setting. Now,Email integrations have their own control for moderated or not. I take it this change means the two operate as an OR: messages via an email integration are moderated if that integration is moderated OR the group is moderated. Makes sense to me. Shal

Integration message moderation change
Hi All, I just made a change to how integration messages are handled with groups that are set to moderated. Integration messages for this conversation include email integration messages as well as any automated messages from the system, specifically including calendar invites and any notification messages, like new file notifications. Previously, these messages ignored the group moderated setting. Now, if a group is moderated, these messages will be moderated as well. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks, Mark

Hi
The ability to connect to Google Directions, when desired by the viewer.I'd like to add a slight variation to this point to get some Google info displayed. A couple of screenshots from another similar system I use may help. 1 - An extract of the map with pin markers 2- An extract of the map with details from Google after clicking on a pin Directions can be accessed from the info displayed on the left Andy

Just spent a few hours checking out the google linked database facility. Fantastic! We maintain a list of Recommended Medical Specialists for our members around the world. I was easily able to modify the table entries to match our fields. There are a couple of improvement that would greatly enhance usability of this feature:

Hi,
when editing a table row that contains an address type field, the country code is not retained. It always has to be reselected before the row can be saved. Regards, Andy

Re: Locked Topic Message needs Editable Reason for Rejection
My group has a nearly identical problem. We require condolences for cats with the disease we deal with to be sent privately, for a plethora of reasons; yet, for a plethora of other reasons, we do not allow private replies. So we lock topics about cats who have just died, and send a group message asking people to send condolences privately, with the person's email address included in the message.
The problem with the requested feature I see is that it would only work for people trying to reply via email. So I'm not sure it would be effective. Currently, I just post a message to the group saying we are sorry for the person's loss, and that condolences may be sent to xyz email address. -- J Messages are the sole opinion of the author, especially the fishy ones.

Re: Locked Topic Message needs Editable Reason for Rejection
Linda
Hello,
The purpose of the group is to educate people about a particular disease and the latest treatments and research. "List does not allow Private messages" referred to the group Settings, chosen so all group members can benefit from the info that is shared. It is less about hiding email addresses, but that is important also. Members who receive single messages already know how to respond privately. Others are told in the rejection of their messages, where to email their sympathy. The member reported they had just been diagnosed with a second, completely different, unrelated disease. In the absence of the requested feature, I appended the following message to the post before locking it, but I would have preferred that the second statement go only to members who tried to offer sympathy publicly, once the topic was locked: Note from Linda: XXXXX, it goes without saying that each and every one of us is touched by your revelation and sends love and support as you deal with this new hurdle. You will beat this too! Xo Members: It is YYYYY Groups policy to have personal messages sent directly to the person being addressed, in this case XXXXX. Please send your message directly to XXXXX at ZZZ @ ZZZ (close spaces). Thank you. Thanks, Linda ------------------------------------------------ Duane wrote: I don't understand why you would not allow Private replies, but then send the person's email address in a rejection notice. Or am I misunderstanding this? ------------------------------------------------ Bob wrote: So, someone can report a bad prognosis but you want to lock that topic so that others can't offer sympathy? Hope this is not a patient advocacy group ------------------------------------------------ Linda wrote: List does not allow Private messages. Scenario: A New Topic from a member reveals a bad prognosis. List has more than 1250 members who want to offer support. Locking the topic is necessary to stay focused on the disease. Requested: The ability to customize the rejection notice for a Locked Topic. In this case including the private email address would avoid hurt feelings. Also, same message in a Tool Tip for web readers would make it perfect.
