moderated Pending Subscriber Notifications to Owners

Jim Higgins

Please add the email address confirmation status - confirmed or not confirmed - to the initial notice of a pending subscriber that's sent to group owners/moderators.

Also, if initially unconfirmed, send another notice to Owner showing confirmation status when the email address has been confirmed.

This would permit those of us who manage our groups via email (vs visiting the Gio via web), and who prefer to not approve a new subscriber whose email address isn't confirmed, to know the email address confirmation status before approving a new subscriber.

Thank you.

I think the show/hide column buttons should be at the top, IMHO.
If you want to see a slick online web database, have a look at Obvibase.

What's the difference?
"Reply only to Sender" actively blocks posts in the same thread that subscribers attempt to send back to the group. "Reply to Sender" does not.

You might consider arranging the buttons in 3 rows, keeping all like functions in the same row.

Table  > Edit, Export, Delete
Row    > View/Edit, Add, Import, Delete
Column > ID, Col1, Col2,

Not crazy about "table properties," since that seems to refer to things *about* the table rather than to the table design. When I hear "properties," I think of things like size, visibility/accessibility, number of rows and columns, that sort of thing. I think you really mean to refer here to the design of the table rather than to its "properties." But nobody is going to sue you for using that word. ;)

It's a good point, though, that "Edit Table" could easily be misunderstood. Should it be changed to something like "Edit Table Structure" or "Edit Table Properties" or is there some other better way to describe it?

In the meantime you can put instructions at the top of the table. See attached jpeg.

Just be great if the actions buttons could be moved to the top now :)

Pamela,
First, check your permissions on the table.  In general, you probably don't want members to edit the structure of the table.

Then they won't have the Edit Table button at the top (unless they are moderators).

However, I agree that having the action buttons at the top and the data rows scrolling below would be an improvement.

Would it be possible to change the options for Add Row to be moved to the top (beginning) of the Databases?

Many of our members are confused by the 'Edit Table' option thinking that is what they click on to add their record.

We have just transferred from Y!G and I have found out that the setting for Editing a Database being restricted to Owners/Moderators only has not transferred and is defaulted to 'Members'.  Suddenly all of the headings in the table are being changed due to members clicking Edit Table rather than Add Row.  They are older people and not always computer savvy so moving the Add Row button to the beginning of the table would be so much easier for them.

Thanks for your consideration,
Pamela

im a newbie so sorry if this has already been discussed

Yes, Group Owners should be able to control the default setting for their groups, and all options should be available for them to choose among.

I have no need/desire to restrict subscribers/members from communicating privately.

If such an option existed and is chosen as a blanket prohibition, it should be stated (by un-editable default) in the Group’s description (Home).

If done on a Topic by Topic basis, it should be stated in the Message Footer of those Topics (instead of the choice of reply links).

Perhaps all Messages should state what the default reply is.

Changes to the site this week:

• NEW: Topics can have a reply to setting that overrides the group's reply to (and any associated hash tags).
• NEW: Replaced the Reply To Sender Only checkbox on hashtags with a dropdown, allowing you to override the group's reply to setting.
• NEW: When a subscriber is viewing a member's profile, display the Email button to send them an email.

Mark,
It does now, it didn't then. For me anyway... :)
An alpha text search seems to work.  I have an album with files named "ThisParty01.jpg", "ThisParty02.jpg", etc.  Search for "0" returns no photos.
Also, a minor thing - when displaying the results, the breadcrumb link at the top says "Photo Search" and the link takes you back to the albums, but seems like the breadcrumbs should be:
<group> / Photo Albums / Photo Search

Thanks

I would also like to see this.  While doing some testing yesterday, I was uploading some really big files, 270-500 MB.  During the upload, all I saw was a box in my browser saying "Sending request to groupname".  Having a connection that's not the best in the world, I kept wondering if the files were actually being uploaded or if the connection was even good.  I eventually hovered on my Network Activity icon on my task bar and could see that they were doing something, albeit slowly.

At least with Chrome, I believe that a status is displayed at the bottom of the window showing how much has been uploaded so far.

This really annoys me.  I dont WANT my group settings over ridden!  Why, every time there is a change, do we have to fight and discuss endlessly for there to be a group setting to control this stuff, and allow those group owners who dont want it, to be able to shut it off.   Instead there is endless discussion and back an forth every single time.   Please install a control for owners,,, over ride group member sending emails from the profile or private.

The reply-to overrides are only available to people who can otherwise edit a topic and/or edit the settings for a hashtag, ie. owners and moderators.

I'd like to point out that the partial word matching only works on "words" separated by spaces or non-alpha characters in the file name.  It does not do a search for a string of characters anywhere in the filename.  To me, this is less than ideal.  Say you have photos named "ThisPartyxxx", "ThatPartyxxx", "OtherPartyxxx".  A search for "Party" will not find anything.

I didn't respond to this earlier, but photo filename search does indeed match on strings of characters within the filename.
