moderated Update invitations approval message

Toby Kraft

Re: [GMF] I'm the group owner - getting message that invitations have to be approved
When batches of invitations that exceed the threshold for "approval" are submitted - there is no explanation of what is going on - so GMF keeps getting questions about Why? and Who approves? etc.

Also, this should be added to the Help/FAQ pages.
Thanks!

Victoria,
No, images in a database are not attachments.  Attachments refers to files (of any type) attached to messages.  The Database is independent of the Messages.
A database would be much more flexible than folders/subfolders.  If you want to look into using a database, we can help if we know more about how you see the images organized.  That discussion should be a new thread in Group Managers Forum.  (or perhaps privately with Drew or myself)
As far as adding a new feature to Photos to allow subfolders, that's a good suggestion.  Mark reviews this forum and may add that to his feature list for the site.
Thanks
Toby

Drew,

this would mean attachments, doesn´t it?

We do not allow attachments for various reasons though.

FWIW, Group.io's database tables can be useful for compiling image catalogs. Images can be sorted by column categories. Pretty easy to construct. See example attached.

I would love to have both options that Shal is asking for - my group has many subgroups with members belonging to multiples.  Getting 3-4 (or more) add emails is confusing for them and more likely to be reported as spam (even though I warned them).  I would love to be able to bulk add 400 members at one time to a new subgroup - it would be so much easier.
Thanks
Beth

moderated Direct Add in a Subgroup

Mark,

Relating to the request for consolidation of "You've been added" messages, https://beta.groups.io/g/main/topic/25505140

I'd like:

1) To suppress the subgroup notice altogether, or have the option to suppress it. The people being Direct Added to a subgroup are perforce already members of the primary group. If I want them to be notified about the subgroup I can turn on a Welcome notice for it.

2) A bulk Direct-Add ability. Rather than checking hundreds of boxes (and double-checking that I got just the right ones) it would be easier for me to copy a column of email addresses from excel to identify the members who signed up for the additional activity represented by the subgroup. Any email address that isn't already a subscriber to the primary group should be skipped, and reported to me as having not been added.

My poor choice of words as well. I meant the box should either always be checked as the default or always unchecked as the default.

Eeep. Pardon my poor choice of words.

Shal, I don’t see it as overelaborate but I do see it as potentially confusing to users if the box appears and disappears without their knowing why. Maybe the default should just be unchecked no matter what and let users decide each time.

Linda,

Both of my groups are actively moderated. Considering that you are requesting this for web-posters, who typically do not prefer email, this would be all right ONLY if members could opt-out of the extra mail.

Hmm... So maybe the default state of that checkbox should be be "On" only if the member is Individual Messages AND the message would be moderated (for any cause). This may be starting to get a little overelaborate.

Perhaps web-posters would have a web copy, or the choice of email and/or web copy.
It could be threaded within the Topic (only that poster could see it).
It should be up to that poster whether or not to ever delete it from their view of the Topic.

Perhaps email-posters would get an email copy, or the choice of web and/or email copy.
Again with the ‘delete from web thread’ options.

Or should web-posts (and probably email-posts) be archived in a separate Post Archive section for each Group of each Subscriber/Member?

Seems like a lot of redundancy to me, but maybe it isn’t a big deal to do…

Shal, I think that's the best of both worlds. Provide the box and check it automatically by default (the person could still uncheck it) if the person, thread, or group is moderated.

I'd like this too.

I'm about to do a batch of Direct Adds for my PTA group, and it would really be nice to avoid pestering the new members with extra messages. Busy parents tend to be in information overload at the beginning of the school year as it is.

Shal,
I was thinking more along the lines of the bcc. However, I also see advantages to having it be automatic, especially in an unmoderated group. In the case today, I hadn’t noticed the thread was moderated and would not have thought to check a bcc me box.

J,

It would be convenient to somehow(?) email users a copy of their moderated message when sent by web rather than email, similarly to how moderators get an emailed copy of a pending message.

I like that idea. Private replies already have the BCC Me checkbox, regular replies could too.

Or are you thinking it should be sent automatically if the message will be moderated? Perhaps it could be checked by default in that case.
