Hi Chris, On Fri, Aug 17, 2018 at 8:28 AM, Chris Jones via Groups.Io <chrisjones12@...> wrote: Every one of my individual Groups.io groups has had the width of the (left hand) sidebar increased with the exception of the "summary" page with all my groups listed. As a result the side bar is much wider than it needs to be, and of course there has been a corresponding reduction in the width for the "substance" of any page. I tweaked the size of the sidebar in some instances to hopefully prevent word wrapping when it becomes too narrow. With the framework I use for the website, I'm a bit limited in the sizing of columns, so for particular browser widths, it could appear larger than necessary. Expanding or shrinking the width of your browser will change it. I'm happy to revert the change if it's more of an issue for people than word wrapping because the sidebar is too narrow. Thanks, Mark

Is this deliberate or a mishap of some sort? If intentional, what is the intent? Chris

Bob,
Either you've entirely slammed the spam unsubscribe issue or somethingCandidates for "something else": o The members using affected services learned to handle it, o or left your group, o or changed services. o The spam filters of the affected services were told "not spam" often enough that they learned not to put your group's messages into the members' spam folders. The first and last of which were the hoped-for goals of unsubscription as a teaching tool. Shal

I know of several non-premium io groups with greater storage requirements than theirs, and I debated arguing, but I'm not going out on a limb again after what happened last time. -- J

I agree that Groups.IO is great. I would also tell people that they should NOT resist the impulse to tell other groups how great Groups.IO is. With Big Tent also shutting down (I was offered a consulting job with them years ago) having platforms that suit our needs is super important.
Susan SOOOO happy to have moved off Yahoo…
Re: Database upgrade #downtime - Fri, 8/17/18 9:00pm-11:00pm This response is a bit OT, but the contrast is just too overwhelming not to mention: a couple of days ago I had to join a yahoo group because of a cat situation. I managed to get into my old account somehow and join (not an easy accomplishment - as some of you might remember, there's no "send me a link to log in" over there;) Every single one of my posts was delayed by hours or even, in one case, by an entire day. A couple of them posted relatively quickly, and of course out of order, resulting in a completely asynchronous conversation. It's like a complete disaster over there! I had really forgotten how bad things were! I posted something to the effect that my posts were being delayed (that post itself was delayed lol), and someone posted back, "Yahoo is a free service and we get what we pay for." I wanted to say, "Groups.io is also a free service, and when the site goes down even for an hour we get several days notice and banners go up informing everyone that posts will be slightly delayed, and there is an explanation for the downtime, etc." But of course I had to resist the impulse. Last time I tried that in a yahoo group, they shot the messenger. (Six months later, they moved to groups.io on their own. They sent me an invitation lol.)
