I checked the group I moderate and changed the setting PDQ as soon as I read the changelog this morning. I would be interested to know the rationale for this change, because whatever setting is now chosen it is still only Moderators who can create hashtags (as previously) and members cannot try to create them willy - nilly; whatever the setting they don't get away with it. But I know also when it occurs that I have not, even for a single second, been in the Subject line and have used the Reply button to generate the post I'm making. That's what's peculiar. Moderator Permissions: Modify Group Description improvements
I would like to give Moderators permission to change the only items that may require regular updates ("group description" and "message footer”)
Admin: Settings: General: Description Admin: Settings: Message Formatting: Message Footer Moderator Permissions: Modify Group Settings gives a Moderator many different kinds of permissions including “Delete Group”! I suggest: Moderator Permissions: Modify Group Description and Moderator Permissions: Modify Message Footer or perhaps better yet, check boxes in Moderator Permissions: Modify Group Settings to control which permissions are given to each Moderator

Topics Splitting that shouldn't split
Brian Vogel <britechguy@...>
I have noticed recently, particularly on one group I'm on [Windows 10 for Screen Reader Users], that when I reply via the web interface the result is a new topic.
I am 100% certain that I have not touched the subject line in any way, which I know can cause an unintended split. Has anyone else been experiencing this, even if intermittently, anywhere else? Any theories on what would cause it? -- Brian - Windows 10 Home, 64-Bit, Version 1803, Build 17134 ~ H.L. Mencken, AKA The Sage of Baltimore

Re: #photos - name list confessing when assigning owner to photos

When you edit a photo/album and try to reassign a new owner the list that comes up seems to be in Joined date sequence, not alphabetical.FWIW anyone selecting Move (to relocate a specific photo to a different album) runs into the same problem; the list of albums presented to select a destination is ordered by creation date, rather than alphabetically. In a way I understand it, but it still seems a bit odd when selecting Directory presents members in alphanumeric order of Display Name and selecting Photos presents albums in alphanumeric order of Album Name. As an aside. editing an album name will change its position when Photos are displayed if the initial letters are altered, but the drop down list presented when moving a photo remains unchanged because editing an album name does not change its creation date. Duane,
You hit it on the head. I'm an Apple guy, and it does not cycle to the next name in either Safari or Chrome. But it does respond as I would think it should in Firefox. So what we have here is a compatibility/bug issue, not a suggestion. Peace, Tom

I just don't know how you organize your code, but why not to use some issue tracking system/repository hosting like github, Gitlab or a separate issue tracking solution like Trac? I'm pretty sure this way you won't lose anything and you'll be able to track your progress. -- With best regards from Ukraine, Andre Skype: menelion_elensule Twitter (English only): @AndrePolykanine

From: Mark Fletcher <markf@corp.groups.io> To: main@beta.groups.io Date created: , 1:55:33 AM Subject: [beta] Improving my workflow Hi All, As I mentioned before I went on vacation, I'm thinking of ways to improve my workflow. That is, I've been thinking about how I decide what to work on and how to track all the feature requests and bug reports that come in, without constantly distracting me. Right now, there's the Trello board, but it's inconsistently updated. And there's beta's archives, which are a trove of suggestions and requests. Also, the requests and bug reports that come into support. And finally, there are the personal requests sitting in my inbox, from Enterprise users and others. Here's what I've come up with. Please let me know what you think or if you have any suggestions. Beta's archives become the source of truth and I deprecate the Trello board.I rely on a series of hashtags to organize and prioritize feature requests and bug reports.Every N days or so, I go through beta's archives and assign hashtags/merge threads as appropriate. If there's a request or bug report in my inbox or sent to support, I will post a new message to beta with that. Here are the potential hashtags (all would be Use By Mods Only): Categories: #bug, #messages, #members, #features, #calendar, #photos, #files, #chat, #database, #wiki, #profiles, #searchImplementation effort estimate: #quick, #medium, #hard, #exhardStatus: #done I would also like a way to prioritize things, but I haven't figured that part out yet. Thoughts/suggestions appreciated. Thanks, Mark

Suggestion for sign up form
Sandra Pickens-Gmail
I would like to suggest that a name field be added to the embed form code under promote. Currently it only captures an email address. I have the form on my website and when a person fills it out I do not get a name to go with their membership.
Thank you,
Sandra Pickens
