Tom,

When you are in a subgroup, to return to the main group you have to go up to "Your Groups" in the header and click on the group from there.

That is due to a relatively recent change. Previously clicking the Subgroups button on the left would bring you back to the primary group, and from there you could select a different subgroup or use the other buttons to access primary group pages.

That method was counter-intuitive at first, but handy once learned.

I have a suggestion which I believe will help in the overall user-friendliness of the site.

Although I like your second proposal (nested under Subgroups) better than the original, I think a far simpler approach would be to include a link to the Primary group on the Subgroups page. Perhaps above the Subgroups You Belong To heading, with a heading of its own: Primary Group.

I'd have to try it to be sure, but I don't think I'm a fan of having that nested list of pages open on the left whenever working in a subgroup. Especially as a group Admin, that column would get awkwardly tall I think.

Would it be possible for the buttons to actually change colour when a selection is made, with the Delete button being red to minimise the risk of mishaps?* Different colours for the other three (Merge, Hashtags and More) might also be helpful.

I've changed the colors. Please let me know what you think.

This will become the normal view for people who have archive editing privileges.

I had not planned on adding a toggle for it. All the actions require confirmation. Is a toggle needed?

Hello Mark,

I've just tried out the new Bulk Actions feature at the link provided and it is going to be a real time-saver.

But . . . Can the Bulk Action option be toggled on and off? I cannot find any where to do that but I may be overlooking something since I'm fairly new to Groups.io & to beta.

I'm a little slow at times, but I just realized that the suggested indented format is used for the Admin functions.

So maybe the same basic logic would apply to subgroups.  The "Subgroups" tab would be a drop-down revealing the names of the subgroups.  Then when one is clicked on, the tabs for it would be revealed indented further.  So it would look like this when someone was on the home page of subgroup 1:

The advantage to this would be the user would see all the tabs available all the time, with just the additional subgroup tabs apparating when the subgroup is clicked on.

Peace,
Tom

I agree with this, just make the tab screen reader friendly! Though. :)

When you are in a subgroup, to return to the main group you have to go up to "Your Groups" in the header and click on the group from there.  For those who are reading this in the Beta group, this is not big deal...we have always done it this way.  But if you are a not-so-savvy new member of a group, it is a path that is not obvious.  When you are in the main group all navigation is from the tab bar on the left, and then all of a sudden you have to go up in the header.  This is not a hypothetical point of confusion, I'm dealing with it right now with new users.

I have a suggestion which I believe will help in the overall user-friendliness of the site.  It involved 2 changes:

1 - "stick" a tab at the top called "Main Home" which will always be there and take folks to the main group's home page.

2 - Indent the tabs for the subgroup.

It would look like this:

I believe this would go a long way in making the site navigation, especially for the new user, much more intuitive.

Peace,
Tom

You can merge two accounts. Just go into your account page and change your email address to the other account. A page will come up asking if you wish to merge the accounts, and will walk you through the process.

Cheers,

I noticed that the Trello card for "The ability to merge or connect multiple accounts" has been archived without implementation or comment. I'm subscribed to many email lists under several email addresses. I thought it would be great if all of them moved to groups.io, but as more and more of my Yahoo and other email lists are moved, the number of groups.io accounts that I must manage is proliferating. This problem is increasing in urgency for me. I think this is a scaling-up issue for this service. I'm guessing that merging accounts proved to be a difficult issue to address.

So, what about creating a Quick Account Login/Switching widget, similar to Google's account switcher? It could substitute, at least temporarily, for merging different recipient email addresses into one account. The account-switching flyout/dropdown panel would list all of the user's previous groups.io logins. The "change account" button would itself provide notice to new transfers that group emails previously sent to different email addresses, after moving to groups.io, will be managed from different subscriber accounts.

Another alternative would be to recommend that subscribers that were moved into multiple groups.io accounts could use session-switching software, like SessionBox (a Chrome extension), as a groups account manager.

The bulk feature was very easy to use.

I just used the bulk actions for changing a newly added group's email privileges to being on moderation as a new member so I can see how they post. It did one page at a time which was great!!!! Then I went back to view the list to set those members who didn't have to be on Moderation giving them a check, and changed their settings by bulk to being able to post.

It worked really well. Much better then the Y group where you had to check each member's row individually.

I also changed everyone using the bulk to individual mail.

The bulk feature is a great one to have.

It does.

It puts up a Verify Delete dialog box that cites the number of topics
selected and asks if you want to delete them. It has Cancel and Yes buttons.

Michael,

Which are you saying:
I'm saying
The time zone specified in the event.
When you create/edit an event you specify its Timezone along with its other attributes.

If the event were not a real, but a virtual gathering (with no
physical address), ...
The calendar events don't include a setting for that. Apparently members will have to translate the time to their local timezone if they are somewhere outside the timezone of the event.

That's much better! Is it envisaged that this will become the standard "Moderators' View" or will it be user selectable along the lines of "Normal / Advanced"?

Chris.

what Time Zone will determine the time of the event(s) reported in the
email Reminder?
Which are you saying:

The time zone specified in the event.
Is this determined by the physical address (Town and State, or Zip Code) of the event?

OR

Which may default to the timezone of the person who created the event,
Is this the timezone of the person who created the event?

but it is in any case not the timezone of the receiving subscriber.
If the event were not a real, but a virtual gathering (with no physical address), set up in Eastern Time by an Eastern Time Zone member in an Eastern Time Zone group, but the subscriber is in the Mountain Time Zone that is default set to Pacific Time Zone, what Time Zone time is in the Reminder sent by the Calendar then?
