Re: Group Notes feature

Sure, there are lots of kluges, one of which I’m using. The wiki kluge is really no good until we get individually-specified access to wiki pages (as I have also suggested here at some point).

J,
A dedicated space for "group notes" or "moderator notes" would be veryAgreed. It isn't always a good fit, but one can create a Database table which is Moderator-eyes only. I'd like to be able to do the same with a Wiki page for more free-form information. But having it be present somewhere a moderator would expect to look for it, as I think you're proposing, would make it even more useful. Shal

Group Notes feature
#suggestion
I have a vague memory that this suggestion came up in the past: Currently, I am keeping a sort of to-do list for group issues (files to create, members to communicate with, etc.) under my own membership notes. But this kind of thing really doesn't belong there. A dedicated space for "group notes" or "moderator notes" would be very convenient.

I call it partial-word matching. And I'd love to see it too.
Not just in Database, but everywhere. The only place in Groups.io that I
know implements partial-word matching right now is the Members list. It
is really needed in the Activity log and Messages as well.

Is there any way to make the chat messages read automatically using ARIA rolls? So that screen readers can automatically announce messages as they come in?

canceling unresponsive invites?
I have quite a bit of pages of invites from a CSV import but many have not replied yet. Is there a way I can bulk cancel all of those invites? I know about the check boxes but I still have to go page by page. Is there a way I can cancel them all at once?

Re: Searching In databases
This was discussed quite awhile back. If you just use normal words, it won't have a problem, i.e. Tags For You instead of TagsForYou. When this new version of search was added, one of the restrictions noted was that it won't do partial word searches and it wasn't a high priority addition. You should have been here about 3 years ago when the search function was really bad! I'm thankful to have what we do and do my best to make it work.

New Google Maps table view and table export
Hi All, For premium groups, if a table has an address column, viewing that table now defaults to a new Google Maps view. I've created an example table so that you can see it in action here: You can toggle the original list view as well. Also, I've changed how tables are exported and imported. Now, Export Table returns a JSON object containing all the table information. And there's a new Import Table button that lets you generate a new table from a previous table export. You can still import CSV formatted rows into an existing table using the Import Rows button. Group exports now export tables using the new JSON object format. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks, Mark

Re: Allow sorting the Members list by Email Status, Role, and Posting Privilege
Robert,
... the visible indicators are not accessible to screen readers eitherJust to be clear, I wasn't proposing to get rid of the badges and use separate columns instead. Just proposing that the Email column have more than one sort key. But an option to show/hide those extra three columns would also be acceptable to me. Shal

also, coming at this from an accessibility standpoint, the visible indicators are not accessible to screen readers either so doing it the above way would be better, accessibility wise.

Right, I now remember seeing that in the download. Would be great to have it online as well.

Makes sense that B and NC are mutually exclusive. NC’s are not sent emails in the first place so there would never be a bounce.

J,
But I'm confused about the relationship of confirmed of NC to this,Ah, I found the answer. If you download the Members list the very last column is "User Status (0=Not Confirmed, 1=Confirmed, 2=Inactive, 3=Bouncing, 4=Bounced)" So those badges are exclusive. And I got the name wrong, it is "User Status" not "Email Status". Shal

Sorry, I meant bouncing lol. Non-caffeinated here. ;p But I'm confused about the relationship of confirmed of NC to this, other than that obviously, if they're NC, they're not receiving emails. (For that matter, if they're pending they're also not receiving emails.) I don't think an NC member would ever have a B, because emails are not sent to them in the first place.

send confirmation emails in batch
#suggestion
I just tried (in one of the groups I'm a mod in, but which is not a premium group) to select the NC members and send them confirmation emails, but that is not an option and I had to do it individually. It would be nice if this could be done en masse on a selected group of members.
(OR: how about an option to send confirmation emails to ALL the NC members, without even selecting them?) While I'm on the subject of NC members: this does not seem to be a status that expires, unlike "pending" status in a restricted group, where the membership drops off after a certain amount of time and not being approved. It seems reasonable to let NC memberships "expire" after a certain amount of time as well, rather than leave them sitting around. -- J
