moderated BCC All Moderators does not work #bug

Bruce Bowman

Mark -- One of the other subscribers to GMF reported that her Moderators were not being copied when she checked "BCC: All Moderators." I've been following up on that and it doesn't seem to work in my group, either.

I made my test account at GMail a Moderator and gave "him" all mail notifications. I then sent a Member Notice to myself and checked the "BCC All" box. It did not arrive...but I did get a second copy in my own mailbox. I even made "him" an Owner and "he" still didn't get the message. In fact the "BCC: All Moderators" checkbox seems to behave exactly like "BCC: Me."

I subsequently put my test account on moderation and sent a note to the group from there to test the checkbox in the message rejection dialog. I asked all owners and moderators to report back on what happened. Same story...I got a copy but none of the other Owners or Moderators did.

I could be missing something and perhaps others should also try this and report back. But at this point it sure seems like a bug.

Thanks,
Bruce

Should it be "and" instead of "or"?

For that matter, why even bother to try to describe two functions when something like "Delete selected" would be simpler.

The only thing I wish were clarified is Cancel/Remove Invite - that can mean remove an invitation, but it also means "clean up your list by removing those that have accepted".
Perhaps: Cancel or Remove Accepted Invites.
I would love this wording to be changed for clarity.

You can sort by clicking on the Status column.

I had not seen that, thanks.

My idea was the list changes as people accept so instead of the invite list as it is today maybe as people accept the invitee list diminishes leaving only the pending.

Liam, are you looking for more than the list of invites sent?
If you click on Admin, Invites, Sent Invitations, you can see who you have sent an invitation to and who has accepted or not.

A suggested list of invites sent.

As invites are sent the user list can have an icon to identify they have been invited but not yet accepted. This may be a little messy.

OR

This option I prefer
Have an option under the members drop down to show invited members.
As users accept the invite they are removed from the invited list and added to the standard members listing.

This makes management if users and new invitees easier for admins.

Actually the header contains an Emvelope-to: line which has my email

Your email address doesn´t appear anywhere for list messages that you
didn´t send. That can be a problem for people with multiple email
addresses and who don´t know which address they´re subscribed with.
That´s the problem I´m trying to address.

Email addresses appearing in list archives is a very real issue - just
do a Google on your own email address and you will be surprised how
many times it appears, many of them within various lists you have
subscribed to.

There is a circumstance that could expose your address though. If you

I think that's a case where Dave's concern would come into play.

Frances,

Can you please clarify, Mark? Only email addressed to me would have my
email address in the footer, right?
Correct, only the outbound group messages bound for your inbox. Everyone else would receive their own address, not yours.

I'm all for Mark taking a fortnight for a vacation.

The optimistic pessimist in me says that YahooGroups is going to make a
major announcement between 20 April and 7 May, that will result in Mark
working 7/24 for at least 28 days, starting within seconds of the
announcement being made.

OTOH, the pessimistic pessimist in me sees that announcement being made
between 20 May and 25 May, to take effect immediately.

Mark; we often come up with suggestions for changes on this forum, and it isn't always clear if those suggestions or requests are going to go on the "to do" list or not.

Can I ask that there be "Moderators Only" Hashtags showing #Pending & #Done that can be added to a topic once its merit has been assessed; this would give us clear sight of something that is now "on the list" and something that isn't. (I suppose there might also need to be a #No_Chance tag as well!)

I absolutely appreciate all the suggestions and feedback that everyone provides on beta@. You all are awesome! Sometimes (oftentimes these days) there's so much of it that I unfortunately can't get to it all and still spend time working on the site. It used to be easier, when the site was much smaller; I had time to maintain the Trello boards. I'm not complaining, mind you.

I don't know what the right answer is for acknowledging suggestions and maintaining lists and such. It needs to be lightweight enough that I don't spend a considerable amount of time on it.

At least until the end of May, I will be spending all my energy (outside of bug fixing and trying to keep up with support) on GDPR stuff. Whatever extra time there is, I will be working on adding the ability of group owners to charge subscriptions for their groups and other premium features. I want to increase Groups.io revenue so that I can hire help and really make this thing huge.

Thanks,
Mark
