moderated Re: "New Photos" option requested

I don't think this is exactly what I'm looking for since I have people who can't figure out how to get to photos at all...and that's where the photostream was.    But it's possible there would need to be a photostream thing before there could be a link for "new photos" so I'll just resort to providing links on occasion to the photos and let them follow that for now.

Thanks for the trello link.  I'll try to remember to pop over there on occasion to see what's already on the list.

Yes, this is where you'd ask for a new or modified feature.  The nearest thing I can find on Trello (the TODO list) is https://trello.com/c/wtCH2qAh/193-emulate-photostream-view-from-y-groups

moderated Display names, and invitations

Now that some groupowners have got their wishes granted and can moderate their users' signatures, I am having to scroll down further - beyond the signature box - in order to approve my pending members.

I have to do this (rather than just tick the box next to the pending members and then click approve, which would be much quicker) because I almost always have to click on the pending member to add their display name.

So I am asking again for something I've been asking for ever since I joined groups.io: could we please have the option to make display names compulsory. For the avoidance of doubt, I don't care what the display name is, I just want one there.

And while I'm on the subject of my original wish list, *please* can we add a tick box to notify all moderators when you invite someone to join the group.

Many thanks.

Helen

I second that - our club uses the calendar primarily to reserve time at our facility for private training time, and we do *not* want each individual's personal reservation announced to the entire group.  Club events that do need to be announced comprise at most ~20% of what is scheduled on our Calendar.

Maybe the best option would be to allow the Owner/Moderators of each group to choose what the default policy/action should be for their group's calendar - i.e. either Checked or Not Checked for Send Invite to Group, as best suits that Group's use of the calendar?

thanks,
Glenn

It was easy to mis set the dates, repetition cycle, etc
It took several tries
And on each try I had to remember to uncheck that darn box so that the group wouldn't get an incorrect invitation 5 or 6  times because that's at  least the number of times I edited it.

Mark, can we please have the default of Send Message changed to Unchecked?

I never actually got an answer to this.  Is this the right forum for requesting a feature enhancement?  Or should I be sending this to support?  This is becoming a bigger for issue for me as I have people in my group who can't figure out (or won't figure out) how to navigate to/through the photo albums to see pics.  It's not hard and I've posted instructions numerous times and we have photo album naming conventions in place to make it easier, but it doesn't seem to be helping.  Janet Smith

moderated Chat settings #suggestion

Marina

I am bringing this topic back to life because, although chat may not be a vital feature, it can prove very useful for some groups. In my old YG group, for instance, we used chats for online workshops or Q&A sessions with professionals.

I wonder if it would be possible to have some settings for IO Chat. For instance, restricting the number of participants or sending an invite to specific members and not to group or banning from chat a member showing inappropriate behaviour.
It would also be useful to have the possibility (for moderators) to download the chat content, once the chat is closed.

I know this is not a priority but I hope you'll want to consider it for your agenda.
Thanks,
Marina

I don't know if this is the same thing that Southenders Admin would like to see implemented, but personally I would very much appreciate the possibility to disable existing calendar hashtags (cal-invite, cal-notice) and use a customized hashtag. That would be another small step for my group (but one giant leap for mankind) on the way to IO localization :-)

Many thanks, Mark, for all your work and commitment.

Either that or just a general flag next to the admin tab that signals that you have something to do there...

Sure would like to see more integration of the hashtag concept.

That's not going to help you. I suggest you take this up in GMF. I have some ideas for you but this is not on-topic for beta.

You can do that in the Group Guidelines.

Not really, J. The guidelines are a single document, and the other information we regularly sent are quite long ones. In our group they are necessary though. I have a solution already, ´ll create a new moderators adress and will send those scripts monthly, but each at a different time.

Hello, J.

I wouldn't have believed that we could have accomplished this, and we started it as "optional" in the beginning, but now all our group members have a sig containing their cat's name, gender, age, weight, diagnosis, diagnosis method and date, current meds with dosages, and "other health conditions." It only takes 2-3 lines and is incredibly convenient. We don't have to ask, "Well, how much of x are you giving him, and how much does he weigh?" and wait for the answer, which sometimes is not forthcoming, and we don't have to go searching through past threads. We can just say, "I see you're giving x amount of y and he weighs 10 lbs, you could ask your vet about increasing that to ...."
---

In health groups this is a very important tool. We started this in Yg many years ago and no one ever complained. Some of them just forgot it sometimes.Thats why I liked the recurring mail tool in YG where small instuctions how to handle this or that could regularly be sent, f. e. how to create the signature and which exact information we need to be in it.

I think the "last" weekday of a month, e.g. the last Thursday, (some months have 5) is an issue.

p.s. Also unbelievably, not one person in the group has complained about this. To the contrary, they took to it immediately and they seem to appreciate not having to repeat the basic info about their cats in every message.

Also, the mods themselves can now get rid of the irritating default sigs (like mine lol;)

Thanks, Duane, makes sense. I can't see many people setting up a groups.io signature on my groups, they'll just use their irritating default ones.

Yes, Helen, this is only for the Groups.io signature.
