Re: Yahoo Group transfers
Ginny T.
And here's your chuckle for the day: I recently moved a group that's an online chapter of a national organization. They'd decided late last fall after the Yahoo fit in October. We were well into it (thank goodness) when the death-spiral began. Managed to get out of Yahoo intact. Right before we moved, one person posted that she didn't want her info "taken" into Groups because "there is absolutely no information available about Groups.io "security"; remove her from the group. Nothing would make a dent with her. She was told if she wanted out, she needed to cancel her YG membership. That didn't happen.
We move, go live, everyone are happy campers, she posts about she would have preferred a Facebook Group "like everyone else". REALLY? You're pitching fits about "security" and you're hollering it should have been Facebook? She was told again why Groupsand the reply was to unsub. Hokay! I know - don't say it - like I said, chuckle for the day. Ginny -- Ginny T. gttemari21@... ======== TemariKai.com

login suggestion for new refugees from YahooGroups
i am spending a lot of time explaining to the older folks in my group about how to log into Groups.IO. a suggestion, perhaps add a line of code, right near the login suggestion(not far below where it is now), saying specifically if this is ur first time here, just arrived from another platform, like yahoogroups, this is what u need to do…it needs to b a bit more simplistic for my masses…thanks for listening.

You can see a past member's entire member page by moving them to banned. It seems to be a "feature." ;)

Re: Reengage Past Members cant remove them from the Past Group
I don't think there SHOULD be a way to reenroll past members. Leaving the group was their choice. If someone is removed for marking a message spam, then they're given a chance to resubscribe via a resubscribe link. You shouldn't have to do anything. If, OTOH, they didn't get the link, you can always contact them, send them an invitation, etc. I would consider it very obnoxious if a group owner resubscribed me to a group I'd purposely left.

Reengage Past Members cant remove them from the Past Group
Bob Bellizzi
There seems no way to reengage Past Members. It would be helpful is we could reengage these people
But I also notice the only thing kept is the email an when they left. No page seems available, at least in Premium. As someone said, many (of these) members are in the right lane of the Internet highway, And they don't notice that they are not receiving messages or digests and when the Unsubscribed/spam message arrives, it, too goes into the junk or spam folder, not to be seen because they just don't look for almost a month in this case. And, what is the import of a Past Member if we attempt to Direct Add one of them because there is no way to remove them from the Past group -- Bob Bellizzi Founder, Fuchs Friends ®

Barbara Byers
I know that I did this for my 4 groups, because it was exactly as described, I tried to add the transfer email and would get an error message that it couldn't send the invite. I only tried it twice for each group though, then decided to wait, and by the next day it was a member of all my groups. Sorry for the dupes! I want to add a major THANK YOU for making this possible. Sent: Tuesday, February 6, 2018 9:53 PM To: main@beta.groups.io Subject: [beta] Yahoo Group transfers Hi All,
I know this isn't really a topic for beta@, but I need to get the word out.
There's a large backlog of group transfer requests, and I'm trying to work through them. But what's difficult at the moment is that I'm getting a ton of duplicated invites to Yahoo Groups (I have 442 sitting in my mail queue at the moment). Apparently
people are getting errors from Yahoo when submitting invite requests, and then submitting invites again, over and over. If you get an error, most likely the invite still went through and you do not need to submit an invite again.
I've added a note to the instructions page on the site, but if you are involved with any Yahoo Groups who are thinking about moving, I'd appreciate it if you could pass this along.
Thanks,
Mark

Yes, this is the place. Unfortunately we can get shot down for sounding like groups.io evangelists in some of the die-hard yahoo groups we try to help (it happened to me - "do you work for them?" etc.). It's impossible to "get it" until after you move.

Re: Update on Y! Groups transfers
Thank you so much Mark for completing the transfer of our group's membership list and full message archive (dating back to 1999 when it was with Onelist!)
Unfortunately, you were not able to transfer any of the files from the YahooGroup. I'm still not able to see any of them myself (for three days all I get is a blank screen.) Is there a chance of getting them transferred at a later date assuming that Yahoo fixes the feature? Thank you so much. Words cannot express how important our longtime online community means to our members, and the fact that you have saved us so that we could stay together. --Paula
