moderated Messages in sub-groups are too hard to access #suggestion

 

I've got a group and I created a second sub-group for meta discussion because many people aren't interested in that.

Getting from the normal group messages to the sub-group messages takes too many clicks. First I have to click on sub-groups, then the specific sub-group, then messages again. It would be much nicer if there was just a link for each sub-group and you could go there directly.

Thanks, it's now working again. It took much more than a few seconds, but I suppose there might have been some caching somewhere?

When you create your first subgroup, you're also creating a subdomain on groups.io (sydney-ai-safety.groups.io in this case). That requires some DNS changes. We do the DNS changes immediately. But it can take a few seconds (or more) for that change to propagate to a DNS server near you. I'm guessing that's what happened. You should be able to access your site now. Unfortunately, I'm not sure there's anything I can do about this.

Hi,

I just set up a subgroup at: https://sydney-ai-safety.groups.io/g/main

Unfortunately, I can now no longer access my group.

The error I get is:

"This site can’t be reached

sydney-ai-safety.groups.io’s server IP address could not be found."

Does anyone know what is causing this error?

We strip iframe tags, I believe everywhere, because of possible security issues.

The calendar code that I use makes it pretty easy to display a Google Calendar. I would have to write the code to store config information for this, but if this is something that people want, it's definitely doable and I can put it on the TODO list.

Please feel free to tell me we're wrong but a member pointed out to me that if one has the Full Featured Digest (FFD) when they click on Reply to Group it causes an email reply requiring no access to the group at groups.io
While a Plain Digest (PD) only has a URL after "Reply To This Message: Reply To This Message: " which requires one to be logged in either via password or the Logmein link to reply because it opens a  web based reply window.
So my member with the plain digest was a bit upset after finding this out.

I run a group with over 3000 people who have a "late onset disease"
I'm well over 80 and many members are older than me and we seldom see the age as a problem in understanding clearly described information.
I've used the process and link several times and written a WIKI article for our (public) WIKI.
We simply refer members to that wiki article's url

Sorry but I think we all need to take a step back and consider how confusing a webpage with all kinds of buttons and possibly different colors would be to a newbie.
Also, customization by each group doesn't come free for Mark and can lead to serious complications is code.

I believe it should work on a Wiki page, but isn't allowed in messages. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/3024  If it doesn't, you should contact support@groups.io.

I would like to be able to embed my group's public Google calendar in our wiki (e.g. "<iframe src=...></iframe>").  I can add the HTML via the "Source code" tool, and my calendar renders perfectly in the editor, but it is stripped out when the page is saved.

I am always looking for ways to make the registration process go more smoothly. But I'm not quite sure I understand. There is a Register link at the top of the website, next to the Login link. Are you referring to something else?

What is amazing to me now is the pitiful version of Yahoo that now exists even though this type of service is very important and does so much for users as Groups.IO does in fact do daily with only one employee, Mark. Yahoo Groups is now owned by a telecommunications giant and they lack any clue as to how Yahoo Groups could become somewhat a rival to Facebook if it were exapanded, improved and fixed. Go figure.
