moderated "New Photos" option requested

Am I right that this is the forum for making requests?  We are a very photo intensive group and have a few hundred albums (I'm working out a way to consolidate them for future work) but my users are missing the "New Photos" link that we had in Yahoo where we could (theoretically) see the most recently uploaded photos easily.  Is this on the request list already?  Janet Smith

FWIW, I use Member planet and they use zendesk for their support tickets also.  They have a customized support page (hosted on zendesk server per DNS) (support.memberplanet.com) that looks like other member planet pages.  They're signup/login dialog looks like this (shown below) which is a little more clear.  So some level of personalization/customization is available.  And there is a big "Back to Memberplanet" button on the support page to make it clear you're not on the home site.
I should also mention that memberplanet does not show a Login link on the support page so they don't invite you to setup a password and view your requests.
Anyway, like Mark said it's a mixed bag and I trust that any changes Mark makes will be well thought out. :)

Thanks, Mark! That all said, I really like having the ability to see the list of issues I've contacted support about. If zendesk is the only way, then I'll happily put up with it, but I think it could use a Help section here (as Toby has already suggested on GMF).

It is flakey, because I *did* receive a ticket for the bug report about lack of ticket. However, twice in a row there was no ticket.

I've sent this to J off-list, but I just discovered that Zendesk has its own spam filter, and her messages were caught in it.

In reporting this to GMF and asking if anyone else had experienced the problem, I was advised to log into zendesk and check my activity. I had not realized that this facility even existed. Issue #2: When I tried to log in, I was treated as a new groups.io user, asked to "create my groups.io account" (as if I didn't already have one), and then asked to "log into groups.io" (as if I weren't already logged in). It would be less confusing if that UI could be changed to explicitly refer to "creating a zendesk account for groups.io" (or words to that effect) and then "logging into your groups.io zendesk account" instead of logging into one's groups.io account, especially when one is already logged in. So that is the #suggestion.

Yes, I agree that it's super confusing. I'm ambivalent on Zendesk overall, and this is one reason why. I'm not sure I can fix their messages, but I will look into it.

Thanks,
Mark

As I just responded to your support ticket from yesterday afternoon, I'm unable to assist with Incredimail issues, as I don't use it and am not familiar with it. I do know others use Incredimail with Groups.io, so I'm not sure what the issue is. Sorry.

Toby, it seems like it's just zendesk's UI, in which case there's probably no solution unless you can convince zendesk to change it to "create your groups.io zendesk account" or whatever. I've already posted on beta. Thanks.

You might try emailing this last post to "Groups.io" <support@...>.

Perhaps there is some disconnect between support@groups.io email and zendesk.

Many people do not like incredimail.
I have it blocked on all of my computers and all of my networks.

It seems like Incredimail depends on the Internet Explorer Flash plugin, which would make it super non-portable and maybe non-standard HTML.

Hi Anita,

This is your 12th post in a couple of days, and it's going to other users, not a support desk, so there are only a few volunteers providing any help.  I'm just a brand new group member, like you.

Are you paying for Groups.io, or are you on the free version.  If the latter, I'm not sure you can expect the Rolls Royce service you seem to want.  If the former, you need to be posting these elsewhere, I think, on the beta site.

To try and be helpful, have you asked incredimail?  Cut the rest of us some slack, please.

Tim

I recently did not receive the usual "ticket" for a bug report I'd sent to support. So that is the #suggestion.

When I did finally get logged into zendesk, I found that the report for which I had not received a ticket was not in my activity page. That's when I resent the bug and again did not receive a ticket.

Something funky seems to be going on.

Hi All,

What might not be apparent to all is that the rapidly decaying corpse of Yahoo Groups is forcing groups at an ever increasing pace to find a better solution.  This includes many groups in the UK and Europe (and possibly elsewhere) who do not use the US date format.

Can I please add a strong vote for moving the whole of Groups.io across to the international date format so everyone on the planet is on a level playing field.  This will make a great product into a fantastic one.  Such a small thing shouldn't make a difference, but it really does make it almost unworkable in the UK as the US dates cause so much confusion.

Thanks.

As I type this, there is a useful system message banner about downtime, but it is in Pacific time (with American date format :-( ), rather than my local time zone (as set in profile), so not as helpful as might be.

If it cannot be set to come out in 'my' tome zone automatically (which would be the ideal), duplicating it in UTC would be advantageous.

Is there any progress on this? - either to make date/time format a user chooseable option, and ideally one which can be set as a default by a group (as timezone now is), or to make the standard format the international (ISO 8601 yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm) one (which has the advantage that, unlike the various nn/nn/nn date formats, no mistakeable variant is in common use anywhere).

I've been notified by Linode that they will be rebooting one of our critical machines tomorrow, Monday 1/15. The downtime will happen some time within a 2 hour window, starting at 11PM Pacific Time (Tuesday 1/16 at 7AM UTC). I expect the downtime to last only a couple of minutes.

Now that a couple more machines have been through the process, and I have a better idea what to expect, I expect tonight's downtime to last closer to 30 minutes. I have put a banner on the site saying it will be about an hour, just to be safe.

moderated Exporting photos from Yahoo Groups

Hi All,

fyi, I just added a note to the Easy Yahoo Group Transfer page on the site. For some groups we are unable to export the Photos section. Something's up with Yahoo. If you cannot view your Photos in your Yahoo Group, we will be unable to export them. I think this started about mid last week.

Also, I've been behind a bit on processing transfers, and am working through the backlog now.

Thanks,
Mark
