I thought we have been down this road before about databases.  With the groups I belong to the criteria is always different depending on the group and what type information is needed.  Again, let’s keep it simple so those that aren’t computer proficient can use them also.   I know I’m not the only one that would prefer not using Wiki.

I was looking over Mark's TODO list this morning and realized that I didn't see Database or Polls on the Features list. Are these under consideration? After thinking about it some, I'm wondering if either or both could be incorporated in the Wiki using pre-coded templates with a button to add them.

I don't think Polls would be too difficult since they'd be limited to a question and a few answers, but the record keeping might take some work. A dedicated Polls feature would include all that and prevent anyone from changing others responses (but change their own until the poll closes) as might be possible using the Wiki.

Database would likely be a lot harder because of the variable number of rows and columns. It would be especially difficult in our case because I'd want each user to be able to add or edit their own information without affecting others. We have one with only 4 entries, but another with over 400. A true database with controls for each row would work best for our groups.

Hi Duane,

Polls and database not being on the todo list was an oversight. I've added them.

Thanks,
Mark

When I tested just now, this seems to work correctly if I click on the date I was going to use. It's only when I use the "Add Event" button at the bottom of the calendar while looking at a future month that it goes back to today.

It's not currently available. I don't know how that'd work via email.

Going through a *lot* of back mail, and testing every list that
I can find, from email, apparently if the "Reply To" field is
set to go to the poster (which means "Reply" goes to the poster,
not the list), then "Reply All" will include the list if the
list is the "To" field.

Right. So if you want to have your users have the option of (easily) selecting where their reply goes, you should have your group set to Reply to sender. Then, in their mail program, they can decide whether to do a group reply or to the individual.

Hi Frances,

As of right now, I'm planning on upgrading the subscription options on Wednesday (I will send a note out to updates on Tuesday). At the same time, some of the labels on the home page will change. That's the last big change that I can think of. After that's complete, easy Yahoo group transfers will be the next priority (and fixing bugs, of course).

Thanks,
Mark

Anything else for unsophisticated users? My Groups.io doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles yet - just a couple of files.

Minor problem with this one. We have an event set in April. I click on the event to see it, then hit the back button. I go back to March. I think the problem comes in because the "remembered" location is the top left box of the calendar. The back button works fine for Feb & Mar because they start on the 1st. I think using the box at the left of the 2nd row would always return to the correct month. May be easier to program than looking for the 1st of the month.  Maybe even easier to use the top right box?

This should be fixed now.

Duane,

There were a couple issues with the calendar that I've fixed this weekend. Please let me know if you see any other issues.

In addition to the glitch and minor problem I reported earlier on the "Site Updates" thread, one of my members has found another.  Once they create an event, they can't edit it and no one can view it.  I used my member account to verify this.  Clicking on the Event takes us to the Groups.io Inbox page.  I noticed that when hovering over an Event, some link to "addevent" and some to "viewevent"..  As moderator, I can view, delete, or modify them even though it says "addevent".

Not Confirmed means that the person has not replied to the confirmation email we've sent them. Until they confirm their account, they won't receive any emails from the group and cannot send any email to the group. Please have them email support@groups.io if they're having problems confirming their account.

Thanks,
Mark

A couple of my members are reporting duplicates of every email (individual posts). I also noticed that sometimes I receive duplicate notices of members waiting on approval. We're on 3 different mail services - gmail, roadrunner, and a hosted domain address.

I'm guessing this is a timeout issue when we're sending the message. I've just made it a little more intelligent, and I have some thoughts on other changes.

When this happens, please forward one of the duplicates to support@groups.io, along with any other info you may have (how many dups have you received, for example).

Thanks,

I was wondering whether Groups.io was ready for moving my small group from YahooGroups. I know that there are groups already on Groups.io. My only concern is whether the typical navigation and labels are set now. Some of my family members who are part of the group are easily spooked by changes! However for basic use - sending, receiving - that's pretty set now, right?

I don't understand Added back 'Insert Quoted Message' functionality.

I don't see this at all.
It only works for plain text or Markdown at this point. Opening a reply gives a button below that says "Insert Quoted Message". selecting that puts the message being replied to at the top of the message so one can delete those parts not wanted and reply in the text to other segments.
