I just think the signature should not be altered in any way shape or form. What if the user is self promoting?

Absolutely agree.

If the sender has modified it, I'm OK with passing tha tthrough.
I think it should be passed through even if they haven't modified it. Not modifying it is a form of modifying it: it's the form of "I am leaving this alone because I want it to be there." Some people may want to make sure people know they sent the message from their iPhone, for whatever reason (I can conjure up lots of them).

I think anything the sender sees on their screen should be left alone. Anything they don't see should be removed. No surprises. Text the sender sees should be sent.

I agree. While it is a good idea, I don't agree with that approach. I won't reiterate what others have said better than I so there you go.

Actually she kind of cams to the right place as what if that particular area is not accessible for the blind. I've reported and have had fixed already some accessibility issues and now my group runs more smoothly because I as group owner can access  almost now about 99 percent of the interface. Also look up the groups.io forum manager list that is another grate resources.

Take care

You would do that as Jeremy said, in post https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/14667 Here's a step by step:

1. Go to the calendar page
2. Click on the event that is wrong
event opens in a new window/page
3. Scroll to the bottom of the event and click on Edit Event event editor opens in a new window/page 4. Scroll to the bottom of the event and click on Delete Event 5. It will ask if you're sure, so you would click Yes

The event should now be gone. Once you have completed step 3, you could also edit the information for the event to correct the mistake insterad of starting over. If you do edit, be sure to click Update Event at the bottom of the page.

You can't delete a calendar, only the events shown on it, individually.

While I am prepared to be be contradicted by someone with more expertise, I do not believe that it is possible to delete (as distinct from disable) the calendar other than by deleting your group: as I understand it there is (and can be) only one per group, that comes as feature for you to use (or not) by adding individual events, at specific times and dates, which can be deleted, as I have described.

At the moment we seem to have a comprehension gap over calendars and events such that I do not see how I can say anything more of use.

Sad face. I found subscribe to event or add to event but not where I can delete the calender

Do you mean '+Event' and 'Subscribe to Calendar'? Those are on the 'Calendar' page.
You need to navigate from that to the 'View Event' page, by clicking on the event (the incorrect one) in the Calendar - it may be easier to find if you click 'List' (view) at top right of page.
Then you should see the Edit Event button - below the details of the event, use that to get to the 'Edit Event' page - the 'Delete Event' button is on that page (well hidden! - not exactly the obvious place)

I think what's an ad, vs. what's information (and the two can obviously intersect), is part of the issue. But I was about to suggest just the above. Moderators can edit posts however they see fit. Currently, some groups trim trailing posts, for example. That, like this issue, falls into the category of text that the sender left in a message and did not delete on their own. But they sent it consciously - to what degree they were conscious of it you can debate. But they were at least given an opportunity - real-time, not in some obscure setting that they'd need to go in and change - to be aware of it, since it was visually there in their draft. I think we're going around in circles and I will try to stop responding.

I'd suggest that if this is added, it only be allowed on groups that aren't in the directory (totally private). Otherwise, it sort of defeats the reason for having the group listed.

Anyone can remove any of the ads, whether seen or not. I don't want free advertising to be used on my groups, regardless of the source or "reasons". As Bob B. mentioned, I don't think it will be long before the auto-sigs are longer than the messages, at the current trends. If Mark doesn't automatically remove them, they still won't be allowed on my groups.

I'd like to request a new option for group owners - to disable any/all signups for a group.

I see two scenarios for this:
  1. Where membership is controlled through the API or another method (e.g. Slack), and you don't want to allow members to join outside of this process.
  2. Where you already know who is going to be in the group, so any requests to join will either by spam or just unwanted.
TIA!

That's a good point. But I still think the fact that they don't see it visually, and they can't modify it, makes for an important qualitative difference in the two situations.
