I think it would have to be part of the topic (next message in the topic) for the relevant people to see it.

I suppose it would require a new message category in "member notices," possibly "topic notice"? Then when you click on "moderate topic" or "lock topic," a dropdown would come up. Or something. Not sure whether this is more trouble than it's worth, but it would be very convenient for our group.

So, this would be a message that would be sent to the group when you lock or moderate a topic, and that message would be a part of the topic that is being locked/moderated (ie. it would be a reply to the original message that started the topic)? Or would you want this message to be displayed "out-of-band", ie. differently from how a message is displayed?

Thanks,

When the subject is the same maybe groups.io could do suggestions to moderator for merge subjects?

What informations you must have for detect quoted parts?

moderated new hashtag option - disallow muting #suggestion

It would be convenient to have a category of hashtags that can't be muted. I realize that "Special" hashtags can't be muted, so one solution would be to just set any tags I don't want muted to "Special." But it would be nice to have something in between. I don't necessarily want to send certain messages as special notices, but I do want them not to be mutable. I know there's an argument to be made about people wanting to read only what they want to read. So I'm not sure how others would feel about this option. But it would serve a definite purpose in our group.

That's a quirk of the editor. I can remove that line, but then that also removes the 'handle' on the right which you can use to resize the text box. I will continue to look for a solution, as I agree that line is weird/confusing.

It's definitely not working, and also the autosigs are disappearing, seemingly randomly.
Any chance of going back to the old editor until the bugs are worked out? Or are we still technically in beta, so anything goes? ;)

Mark & All,

I just pushed changes so that the new HTML editor is live for
everyone for all instances on the website except for editing wiki
pages (that will require a bit more work).
I added a page in GMF's wiki to gather tips on using the new editor.
https://groups.io/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Message-composition-tips-and-tricks

Corrections and additions are welcome. Comments and Questions can be directed to GMF's messages.

One group I administer has asked if their links to Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram can be included in every sent message. I have done that using the footer field in the options, but now they're asking of the footer could include (or, better yet, substitute) the Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram icons which, when clicked, would go to those pages for the group. Is that possible?

It's not currently possible (footers are plain text right now). I could see making them HTML, but then the issue of including icons would be tricky.

moderated Re: remove "active" badge for "member notices" that are not of the automated types #suggestion

J, Shal,

I've removed the active display/checkbox for 'Message to Member' notices. As for invite/direct add messages, my thought was that I was going to make them act more 'normally', that is, there'd be a drop box to select one at the time of invite (the active one would be filled out automatically). But I hadn't/haven't thought through the issues with editing the existing message, or creating a new one 'on the fly' like you can do now.

Thanks,
Mark

Maybe, but some of this I disagree with. I find the saved text from the previous invite or add distinctly annoying, and have to get rid of it every time (and once I forgot to delete it and accidentally sent the prior customized text to the next person). I'll bow out of this for now...

Hi,

If I understand the questions, you want to know if you can merge topics (you can), and if you can collapse parts of messages that are replies (not manually). We try to detect quoted parts of messages and automatically collapse them, but it's tricky and we don't catch everything.

Thanks,
Mark
