Ability to move a message from one group to another
#suggestion
Brian Vogel <britechguy@...>
I realize that Groups.io is "a big world" and that the following is a non-trivial request, but it works so well on BleepingComputer (BC) that I can see the general utility of this function here. Very often a given individual sends/posts a message to a group where it's really "not appropriate" and, as a result, will not likely get the attention it deserves and would get if it were appropriately placed. Very often the owner/moderator of the group where something lands actually knows where it might be better placed. When that's the case on BC a moderator can move that message to the appropriate group and a "forwarding place holder" is left in the original location that directly shoots anyone using the web interface to the new location. This is complicated here because there are so many groups with so many owners and there would need to be some request/permission granting mechanism for a move along with the complications related to the e-mail interface. How one would get an email stream to "redirect" if a topic is moved would be challenging, to say the least. Still, it's worth thinking about even if for the distant future. Personally, I'm always ready to learn, although I do not always like being taught. ~ Winston Churchill

BUG??? Message not posting
Donald Hellen
I sent a message to a group that I am an owner in on 3/15 at just
after 9 PM EDT. I hasn't posted yet. I re-sent it and while it hasn't even very long, my messages typically post to the group within a few minutes and it's been about 10 minutes with no post showing up. I checked and I was on default group policy which moderates new members only. I just changed that to over-ride, not moderated. I've not received any bounced message error, either. Is this something that just started, is it an isolated event, and how to I get this fixed? Thanks!!! Donald

member certificates
The groups linuxham and nbems are still experiencing a rash of membership requests from what are obvious phishing sites. These requests are easily tagged for either refusal or banning since the email addressee does not meet the stated email naming requirement for membership. But I have to tell you this is purely a PIA. I moved these groups from Yahoo expecting that group management would be less of a hassle. So far my expectations have not been met. Please institute a certificate process whereby these bogus emails are eliminated before they flood one or more groups with bogus membership requests. Thank you. David

Looks like it went a bit too far. I'm unable to upload .doc, .xls, .xlsx, .xlsb, .wps, or .wdb files. That's all I've checked so far.Aha, that's quite possibly why I've had trouble with .rtf, .mht and.html this evening. Sue

allow select members to post unmoderated in a moderated topic (would "override not moderated" do this?)
#suggestion
I currently have a topic on moderation but I would like to allow certain posters to post to it without the moderation, because I'd like any responses from them to reach the group as soon as possible. It would be convenient if "moderate topic" allowed an override for selected members. I tested the member setting "override - not moderated" and it does not accomplish this. Could that be changed?

Re: Allow moderation of Photos?
Ginny T.
Ah, thank you, Mark. I can appreciate that it is. I so very much hope that it can happen (sooner, rather than later and yes, I know I'm being greedy). We've had a lot of problems trying to control photos (like proper identification, staying on-topic, over-exuberance, etc.) and moderating them was the solution. As Donald pointed out, especially in today's world, a group being "infiltrated" even though owners/moderators do all we can to head that off at the pass, does happen. Whether it's porn, politics, advertising, or general spam that stuff still has to be weeded out if we can't head it off. Even with a moderator watching activity, there isn't someone on duty 24/7 so that stuff does manage to filter through to some members before moderators find and kill it. I do appreciate all that you are doing with Groups.io, though - I've been "with you" since OneList and eGroups... and have sadly (and angrily) watched Yahoo all but kill groups with Neo and neglect. Thank you for providing a service that we can escape to and keep things going. Ginny

Re: calendar invitations
If there is a waitlist, and one has already rsvp'd with a plus one, then one cant add or change to a plus 2. that is, the event is full, so you cant add. Period. If the event is NOT full, then a member can change to a plus 2.
and a plus two cant be waitlisted separately from your own rsvp. If you want to do a plus two, you would have to rsvp NO, and then rsvp yes with the plus 2, and take your changes on it all moving up on the waitlist. this can be a bit confusing to members
at times, but usually not to the owner/moderators. At least, this is how Meetup does it. meetup also doesnt notify members that they cannot rsvp with a plus one when the owner has disallowed plus ones. It just kicks out their rsvp not accepted. this DOES
confuse members, so I have to add NO PLUS ones in the event description.
Meetup has some good qualities, and some frustrations. when IO has finished building all the stuff in, I would rather be there. But not unless I can mass move my hiking group over. My social group, FriendsConnections, was a bit of a pain getting everyone over to IO from Meetup.

spot that can go to a waitlisted person, but the first person on the waitlist has a +1 (so would need 2 spots)?
