I would do them now, and then again this evening, if possible. But probably no biggie either way.

Hi all,

As some of you may have noticed, digests did not run last night. As part of the downtime last night, I upgraded the Linux distribution on the machines, and that changed the timezone on those machines from Pacific to UTC. I can run the digests now, or I can just let them run at their normal time this evening (10pm Pacific). Thoughts?

Thanks,

moderated Downtime this evening

Hi All,

I will be doing some maintenance on the site this evening, starting at 9pm Pacific time. I expect it to last about an hour. Mail will be queued up during this time and sent when we're back on-line.

Thanks,

Mark, I am one of the persons that was having trouble registering at groups.io due to an "invalid email address." I received an email from you that I was the victim of some overactive anti-spam measures that have been fixed. I was able to register at groups.io with no problem now. Thanks for your help Mark.

locked ability for moderators to see attempted messages to locked topic #suggestion

It would be helpful, after a particularly controversial topic is locked, to see not only the log entry that someone has tried to send a message to it, but also to see what was contained in the message. Can the attempted message be saved, perhaps in the member's activity page?

To answer your original question directly, yes, I've seen this before with a perfectly valid email address. The groups.io developer has some code in place to look for spam addresses and reject them, and that code takes some tuning, apparently. The address you listed (which I have obscured below) is perfectly valid, but the software doesn't think so for some reason. Send an email to support@groups.io with the details and it will get resolved. That's what we did. And with luck the code gets tuned a bit more each time and this issue goes away.

locked Auto-responder for group owners/moderators, does it exist?

Christopher Hallsworth <challsworth2@...>

Hello everyone.

The subject line says it all. So is there a way to set up auto-responders for group owners and or moderators? For example, say one or more owners and or moderators are away on vacation and cannot access email, an auto-responder could be set up to notify either the entire group or its individual members that the owners and or moderators is or are away and will approve your request on a given date or when they return home and regain access to email. If not, then just a suggestion but could this be implemented in the not too distant future?

Thanks for any responses. Very much appreciated.

Kindest regards Chris

Good idea, if the person that posted it doesn't delete the post.

It would be handy if there were a few choices of why it's being reported, but a text box at the minimum.  Even if nothing was entered, the moderator(s) could take a look to see if there was a valid concern, but I don't think an entry should be required.

Hello all

I noticed the following error message when trying to compose an email automatically from the groups.io site to the mail app on my iPhone 6S using 3D Touch.

This website is blocked from automatically composing emails. Ignore--allow.

Great idea. It might even be useful in moderated groups, unless the
posts require approval.

Roy, It's figleafed because this is a public group with public archives.

I would suggest you contact the support address for groups.io instead of posting someone's private contact info here.

It's ironic that the need for figleafing in a public group has finally, by this example, made very concrete to me. This is a public group, and now that person's email address has been blasted to the world at large.
