Maybe tweeting some of these folks directly?

or tweeting their main twitter page: https://twitter.com/EarthLink or their customer care: https://twitter.com/EarthLinkCares

Not only that. EarthLink is spamming my group with non-subscriber message attempts from the earthlink email address of a current group member who formerly used that earthlink address for the group. He says his email has not been hacked because none of his other contacts are getting the spam. Just the group.

If anyone knows anyone at Earthlink (doubtful, I know), can you tell them to unblock IP address 66.175.222.12? We're not on any blocklists and I have no idea why they are blocking us.

Abdolutely would veto this. Please, no! Don't take away the full moderator's  view of the members list!

A member directory that would show in a grid/list format a member's public profile ( for those who elect to have one).

This way with one click you could see a grid/list with pictures and names from the public profile members have already set up for those in your group.

I was thinking about this recently and agree it'd be a good thing to have. Right now, there's a 'Members Visible' setting. My first thought would be that this new member list would show up in the case where Members Visible is set to Subscribers, and would just replace what non-moderators/owners would see, which right now is the table view of members. This has the advantage of not requiring a new sidebar option and group setting. The disadvantage is that moderators/owners would never see this view.

Thoughts?

Thanks,

Also, add more messages to the bounce tracking system, specifically direct add notification emails.

locked Bounce-track the You have been added message #suggestion

Mark,

I noticed that in a recent batch of Direct Adds that the "You have been added" notice sent to the new members does not appear to include bounce tracking. In particular, rather than an encoding such as seen in a group message, it has:

Return-Path: <noreply@groups.io>
I recommend that these messages (all notifications, actually) be bounce tracked the same as group messages.

In the case of Direct Add specifically this would give us an early read on whether the address is valid, without having to wait and see what happens when the next group message is sent.

Agree and would add that it would be great to also have in that automated message a list of the URL's for any subgroups they can request to join.

Mark,

I recently added a batch of new members to my PTA group (thanks for the timely approval!). That is a primary group which has subgroups.

In the body of the notification the new members received only the primary alias was given, which I think is insufficient. For groups with subgroups the subdomain name should be shown as well. For example:

Subject: You have been added to the members@example.groups.io email group
Date: Fri, 12 Aug 2016 06:40:31 -0700

Hello Shalf W Farley,

You have been added by the moderators to their Groups.io group members
...
I recommend that the group name be shown there as "members@example" for clarity and for consistency with the usage in the rest of the message.

Seconded. Right now we can add links, and my group members are using that to try to post their cats' photos. But links aren't working anyway.

If we can add pictures to a database, we can create custom directories with fields for very specific info that would be useful.

I imagine this would be useful to others too - like if there is a group about pets people could upload pics of their pet with data about age/breed etc...

Maybe this is easier at this time than the directory and separate custom profile info.. for now.

We could totally work this out with a database that allows users to upload pics.

Thanks!

It wouldn't list their email address - so it wouldn't interfere with that owner setting to keep the member list visible only to owners and mods. but would enable those who select to have a profile picture / profile to be listed in the directory of their group.

We would only use this in face to face small committee subgroups but it would be ever so useful.

Also - we'd love if the info included in one's profile could be customized for sub-groups. This way people can include relevant info that may be relevant only within that sub-group and that they may not be comfortable sharing publicly across groups.io or their larger group.

Thank you!

Most browsers will give you the option to open a link(file) in a new window (or tab.)  Try right clicking on the link/filename, then select "Open Link in New Window (or Tab)".

I know this has been discussed before and I did a search and read the related messages.  This is what is confusing me...When I reply to messages, I almost always use the reply function of my email client.  It appears ONLY my messages are posting as a separate Topic which is requiring me to Merge them.  I just ran a test and replied via my email client--it posted as a separate topic and then replied again directly from the group and that one ended up within the original Topic.  I would really like to not have to log in to reply and also would like to not have to merge messages.  I use Outlook on a Windows 10 computer.  Thanks for any sage advice.  Messages on my group are not moderated.
