  • CHANGE: After emailing RSVPs, return to calendar.
  • CHANGE: Updating an event does not delete all associated RSVPs.
  • BUGFIX: Word wrap issue in new version on Firefox.
  • INTERNAL: Upgraded to latest version of Apache Tika.
  • NEW: Search within this thread and Collapse Threads checkboxes for search.
  • BUGFIX: RSVPs didn't work in subgroups for people with admin privileges.

  • INTERNAL: Made RSS generation much more efficient, reducing the load on the database.

Have a good weekend everybody!

I haven't been totally following this, but it looks like the link icon and the linkified message # are now redundant? I am probably missing something. I don't mind the unmatching underlines, but I mind that there are two underlines for the same thing.

Yes, closed and locked are the same thing. Should the wording be changed to locked? There's not really a good closed icon. The closest I could find is an X, representing close.

Ok, I linkified the message number. I'm undecided on it. What I don't like is that, because the link icon is oversized, the underlining when you hover over the message number is not a straight line. I tried reducing the size of the link icon but that looks weird in its own way. Let me know what you think.

I've changed it. Let me know if that fixes the problem for you (I can't reproduce the problem, so I have to trial and error it).

I appreciate that, and John just explained to me that Higher Resolution = smaller font and Lower Resolution = Larger Font I tend to mix up which is which.

My browser window fills the screen, which is a 17 inch monitor, Cathode Ray Tube. I use 800 by 600 resolution on it, because anything higher gets entirely too small for me to read. At that resolution, in the current state, the box is gone for me unless I zoom out twice.

At the size the box was before, it was perfect. Since it is no longer an issue, the box having been removed from mobile screens, I just want Mark to please make it the previous size where I can see it again.

I never could see the Search Box due to my resolution just the magnifying glass, but I didn't care, when I wanted to search, I opened it with a click and did. So I was fine with how it had been before.

Thanks Maria, sorry I'm so upset.

Oh that could be cool.

Yeah - I wouldn't get rid of the permalink. Especially as I just learned how useful it is thanks to Duane.

Thank you for clarifying that. Merge CAN mean to put two things together, such as Mark initially merged the search box and the Message Number box and now he has unmerged them (whew). I just have to see the numbers in the list.

Still working on calming down...sorry.

Maria,

I was thinking the message # in blue+icon, since the permalink link icon has already been where it is for a very long time and users are well trained to use it.  Since it's whole purpose is to give you the link to a specific message, using its message number, the number itself and the permalink are essentially the same thing.

I could absolutely deal with doing away with the permalink icon entirely, but I think that's ill-advised since users are already familiar with it and its purpose.  Since the message number in its current position is new, new, new the option exists for tweaking its appearance.

Yeah, that's not what Brian was referring to. He was making a suggestion for where/how the message # is displayed in the expanded messages and single message view - not the message view (where you see all the messages in chrono order).

Wherever anyone wants it on the actual single or expanded message view is fine, my concern is if it's by the permalink on single message view, it won't be visible in Messages List view. That is where I absolutely have to see the number in order to scroll. Mark moved it between sender and date/time instead of in the front, which is ok, but there's no permalink on Messages list, so I was afraid it would no longer be in the list view. If it's moved off the list view, I can't use it like I need to.

Am I making sense?

Just trying to calm down, and trust it's going to work like this.

Or sorry, Brian, did you mean the icon+the message # in blue?

That would work for me too.

Then I'm afraid that it won't show up anymore in the Messages list, Brian, because the permalinks are not seen in the messages list. They are only seen on individual messages. I do not scroll through expanded messages, I scroll through single message chronological list view.

They can be anywhere else when on the single message view, what you suggested it fine, but always be viewable on the list somewhere in the preview location below in single message list view:

Having the message number between the sender and the date/time works. I'm concerned that the message # will be removed from list view, that is what I'm worried about, since there are no permalinks shown in list view.

What Mark has done with where he put it in the preview is working fine, and I'm trying hard to calm down, and trust it.

No no, please. Please leave it where it is. If the Message # is not visible in the list version of preview posts single messages swhen I scroll through them, I can't use it. Please don't merge it anywhere, ok? Please leave it visible.

Brenda

I just tried looking at the message view page in bigger resolution on my screen and what happens if you are in a more enlarged view (sorry don't know technical term) is that the message # box looks like it's gone away - but actually if you enlarge your browser window ( not zoom - just click and drag it to make it bigger) it comes back. It's always there.

I'm not sure if this is what you are experiencing but thought I"d make that suggestion in case it helps.

Mark,

Are closed threads and locked threads the same thing?  I know in groups here moderators have locked various threads (as you well know) the following mini-lock character appears before those threads (and, I'd imagine, individual messages in a locked thread, but I don't use message view):

If closed is another status it might be helpful to use an icon specific to that status.

I also happen to disagree with Brenda about the use of "Cancel."   I find "Discard" used far more frequently than "Cancel" with regard to tossing a draft in the trash along with all changes one might have made to it when the decision not to post has been made.
