Is there any reference in the system help to clicking the corresponding link in a member's group profile to accomplish this objective (see subject line)?

If so, I haven't found it. Please add if not present.

Thanks,

Yeah, I’m done.
If you're talking about the text above each suggestion, that's for my benefit sometimes, to help me formulate what to type, and I go overboard with it, please don't take it that other way.

If you're talking about the crystal and crystal bit, that was me being "cute", I made the title clear and you made the explanation clear; I told you I speak like a cat sometimes. :)

Sorry, I should had included an emoji; <oops..> indeed, lol!

You're right I missed the explain bit.  Here's a couple of possibilities:

Explain and point to the setting:

Posting Always Allowed      The member can post without moderation even in a moderated topic. (Override: not moderated)

or keep it closer to the existing text, point to the setting, then add explain qualifier:

Posting Always Allowed      The member’s posting privilege is set to Override: not moderated. (even in a moderated topic)
(or fully-sentenced, "not moderated, even in a moderated topic.")

Either way, it should be crystal and crystal clear now.  Good catch!

Cheers,
Christos

Should read:
"can post without moderation even in a moderated topic"

IMO it's not quite crystal clear even with that. A "P" member can post even in a moderated topic.

"P" badge title clarification suggestion

Hi Nina,

The admin badge page, https://groups.io/helpcenter/ownersmanual/1/additional-information/member-badges-and-topic-icons, says this about P:

Posting Allowed      (The member’s posting privilege is set to Override: not moderated.)

It really should say "Posting Always Allowed", because technically, a member set to group default (no badge) is also "Posting Allowed" in an unmoderated group, plus even that same user but in a moderated group this time is still "posting allowed",  it just has to be approved first.

Adding "Always" makes things crystal-clear and brings it closer to the explanation text's meaning.

Cheers,
Christos

You're welcome! I did see your post on beta about the messaging when a domain is banned and will monitor it. :-)

As you may have seen, I just posted in beta about whether or not what happens when someone with a banned domain tries to subscribe is actually what we want to happen. I’m not sure about it. That’s obviously a discussion for beta, but just wanted to connect all the dots here.

But unfortunately, a weird error message is displayed. I/you/we might suggest updating that error message on beta.

It would be helpful to add similar information there, about the effect on a groups.io account holder of banning them from a particular group (namely, they see the join/apply button if and only if they're logged in, etc,).

If they're logged in on the email/account that's banned, I don't think they can even get to the group home page.

Hi Nina,

in the Owner's Manual under Message Policy Settings > Disable Editing Messages  can you add a note to confirm/clarify that a member will always be able to delete their own message regardless of this setting.

Thanks

I revised that bullet item as suggested (though I wrote “for the sponsored group” instead of “for the group sponsored” :-) ). Thanks for the feedback!

On bullet 2 of the Sponsorship section/page, it may be more clear to say "Sponsorships are nonrefundable. Sponsorship amounts are held by Groups.io and are used to pay hosting fees for the group sponsored as they are needed."  Otherwise some people may assume that the money can be used for any of their groups.

Thanks,

I just checked out the new text, and while I was at it, I also looked at the section on banning members individually. It would be helpful to add similar information there, about the effect on a groups.io account holder of banning them from a particular group (namely, they see the join/apply button if and only if they're logged in, etc,).

Because of a change Mark made to clarify a situation, section 25.2 item 3 needs to be corrected to remove the restriction of using periods in subgroup names, https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/28045  (It still applies to main groups.)
